FieldAssist seeks an analytically-driven Senior Manager - Business Finance to establish a specialized business finance function that bridges strategy and operations. This role consolidates the organizations financial analysts into a cohesive business finance centre of excellence, reporting to the VP Finance while maintaining deep working relationships with operational and commercial teams.
The ideal candidate combines strong logical and analytical reasoning with business acumen, demonstrating comfort with quantitative problem-solving over traditional accounting compliance. This role requires a strategic finance professional capable of translating business questions into financial frameworks, building scalable models, and driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. The incumbent will establish standardized reporting, calibrate financial analytics capabilities, and position business finance as a trusted strategic partner to leadership.

Responsibilities
For one in the Seat:
BUSINESS FINANCE STRATEGY & FRAMEWORK DEVELOPMENT
- Establish Business Finance Function: Define the strategic mandate, operating model, and governance structure for the business finance function; create the blueprint for a centre of analytical excellence that operates distinctly from controllership and accounting.
- Financial Framework Design: Develop and implement standardized frameworks for unit economics analysis, contribution margin calculation, customer lifetime value (LTV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), and profitability modeling across business segments, products, and geographies
- Business Case Development: Lead the creation of financial models and business case analyses for strategic initiatives, new product launches, market expansion, and capital allocation decisions; conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis
- Financial Strategy Support: Collaborate with VP Finance on rolling business finance strategy; translate organizational strategic objectives into financial plans, KPIs, and measurement frameworks
- Stakeholder-Specific Analytics: Design and deliver tailored financial insights for different audiences (Board, CEO/COO, Commercial team, Operations, Product) with clarity on business drivers, implications, and recommended actions
CONSOLIDATION & STANDARDIZATION OF ANALYTICAL CAPABILITY
- Analyst Consolidation & Leadership: Consolidate existing financial analysts into a unified business finance team; define clear roles, responsibilities, and career progression paths; establish team operating norms and quality standards
- Analytical Process Design: Document and standardize financial analysis methodologies, model templates, calculation logic, and reporting standards; create repeatable playbooks for routine analyses (pricing, profitability, variance analysis, forecasting)
- Quality Assurance & Calibration: Establish rigorous QA processes for all analytical work including peer review, validation logic, and sign-off protocols; ensure consistency, accuracy, and auditability of outputs
- Knowledge Management: Build and maintain a repository of financial models, analyses, assumptions, and methodologies; establish data governance and model versioning systems
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor team productivity, output quality, and analytical maturity; identify opportunities for process automation, tool enhancement, and capability development
FINANCIAL PLANNING, FORECASTING & BUDGETING
- Rolling Financial Plans: Lead the development and maintenance of rolling 12-month and 24-month financial forecasts; translate strategic plans into detailed financial projections covering revenue, unit economics, customer metrics, and profitability
- Budget Cycle Management: Establish and manage quarterly budget cycles in collaboration with business leaders; drive bottom-up budget building with challenge-based refinement; conduct variance analysis and performance tracking against budget
- Scenario & Sensitivity Analysis: Develop scenario models (base case, upside, downside) to assess impact of strategic alternatives; conduct sensitivity analysis on key business drivers
- Forecast Accuracy: Monitor forecast vs. actual performance; establish forecast accuracy targets and conduct root cause analysis on variances; refine forecasting models based on patterns and learning
- Financial Assumptions Management: Maintain a centralized assumptions base for financial planning; ensure consistency of assumptions across all analyses and forecasts; document assumption changes and approval trails
PERFORMANCE ANALYTICS & INSIGHTS DELIVERY
- KPI Framework Development: In collaboration with VP Finance, design comprehensive financial and operational KPI frameworks aligned to organizational strategy; define KPI calculation methodologies, data sources, and business logic
- Executive Dashboards & Reporting: Design and produce executive-level financial dashboards and management accounts for Board and leadership reviews; present complex financial data in intuitive, actionable formats
- Business Unit / Segment Analysis: Analyze financial performance by business unit, customer segment, product line, and geography; provide insights on profitability drivers, performance trends, and variance explanations
- Profitability & Unit Economics: Conduct deep-dive analysis of unit economics across customer segments; analyze contribution margins, payback periods, and return on marketing spend; identify opportunities for margin optimization
- Variance & Deviation Analysis: Investigate material variances between plan and actuals; quantify business drivers and implications; provide forward-looking commentary and recommendations
- Trend & Pattern Identification: Identify emerging financial trends, anomalies, and patterns; escalate material changes requiring management attention or strategic reconsideration
BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP & COLLABORATION
- Commercial Partnership: Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to provide financial perspective on pricing strategies, deal profitability, customer expansion opportunities, and go-to-market decisions
- Operations Collaboration: Partner with Operations team on cost analysis, operational efficiency initiatives, resource allocation, and process optimization business cases
- Cross-Functional Project Support: Lead financial analysis and modeling for strategic projects including M&A support, process automation initiatives, and organizational restructuring; provide financial recommendations to leadership
- Strategic Planning Participation: Actively contribute to strategic planning and review cycles; challenge assumptions, stress-test strategies, and highlight financial implications of strategic choices
- Stakeholder Education: Educate business partners on financial concepts, business drivers, and data interpretation; develop financial literacy across the organization
ADVANCED ANALYTICS & INSIGHTS
- Predictive Analytics: Develop predictive models for key business metrics (customer churn, revenue growth, profitability); support forward-looking business planning
- Cohort & Cohort Analysis: Design and execute cohort analyses to understand customer behavior patterns, retention curves, and profitability evolution over time
- Data-Driven Problem Solving: Apply logical reasoning and quantitative methods to complex business questions; design analytical approaches to validate hypotheses and test strategic assumptions
- Benchmarking & Industry Analysis: Conduct internal benchmarking across customer segments and products; incorporate external SaaS metrics and industry benchmarks into performance assessment
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead analytical investigations into performance deviations; build logic trees and data models to isolate root causes and quantify impact
TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop financial analysts; establish performance expectations and conduct regular 1:1 coaching; provide constructive feedback and career development support
- Capability Building: Identify skill gaps and development needs; design and implement training programs to enhance analytical capabilities, technical skills, and business acumen
- Hiring & Talent Acquisition: Collaborate with HR and VP Finance on hiring analysts; define role requirements and skill profiles; participate in recruitment and interview processes
- Collaboration & Engagement: Foster a collaborative team environment; establish regular team syncs, knowledge-sharing sessions, and cross-functional learning; celebrate analytical excellence
- Change Leadership: Lead adoption of new financial tools, systems, and processes; manage team transition from basic reporting to advanced analytics and strategic business partnering
SYSTEMS, TOOLS & INFRASTRUCTURE
- Analytics Infrastructure: Collaborate with IT/Finance Operations on data infrastructure needs; evaluate and recommend analytics tools, BI platforms, and financial systems
- Model & Report Automation: Identify opportunities to automate routine analytical processes and reporting; implement tools and workflows to reduce manual effort and improve turnaround time
- Data Quality & Integration: Ensure reliable data flows into financial analyses; collaborate with systems and operations teams on data quality, completeness, and timeliness
- Documentation & Standardization: Create detailed documentation of analytical methodologies, calculation logic, data sources, and system dependencies; maintain updated playbooks and runbooks
Required Qualifications
Educational Credentials
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Commerce, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field from Tier – 1 institute
- MBA from Tier 1 institute OR equivalent professional certification (i.e. CFA – II)
- Advanced quantitative training (e.g., Statistics, Data Analysis, Financial Modelling) is highly valued
Professional Experience
- Minimum 7-10+ years of progressive experience in corporate/business finance, financial analysis, or strategy roles
- Minimum 2-3+ years in analytical leadership, team management, or centre of excellence development roles
- Demonstrated experience in at least 2-3 of the following areas:
SaaS or technology business finance and unit economics
Business finance function setup and standardization
Financial planning, forecasting, and performance analytics
Consolidation of finance teams or analytical capability building
Advanced financial modelling and business case development
