The Institutional Portfolio Operations Senior Analyst is a critical part of our firm and clients’ success and is a challenging and rewarding role for the right individual. In this introductory role, you will experience the inter-workings of the asset management world and will have the opportunity to advance your skills for future growth and development within Connor, Clark & Lunn (CC&L).
What You Will Do
The Institutional Portfolio Operations Senior Analyst serves as the key provider of accurate investment portfolio data to the entire CC&L family. In this role, you will:
Own and perform complex reconciliations across cash, transactions, holdings, futures, derivatives, dividends, soft dollars, units, and alternative investments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong control standards.
Lead investigation and resolution of complex reconciliation discrepancies, partnering proactively with custodians, prime brokers, portfolio managers, and key stakeholders across CC&L to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
Oversee and safeguard the flow of critical and sensitive portfolio information across all CC&L affiliates, exercising sound judgment and accountability in data handling and communication.
Independently manage audit support for assigned portfolios, working closely with auditors to provide accurate, complete, and timely data, while ensuring adherence to internal controls and documentation standards.
Act as a key operational contact for custodians and prime brokers, overseeing external data feeds, resolving data integrity issues, and ensuring reliable daily delivery of files required for reconciliation and reporting.
Lead and contribute to operational initiatives focused on automation, efficiency, risk reduction, and scalability of IPO services, leveraging experience to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members, reviewing work as required and contributing to knowledge sharing and team development.
What You Will Bring
Deep Investment Operations Expertise: You hold an undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with 5+ years of progressive experience in an institutional investment firm, bank, or trust company. You bring strong hands‑on expertise in investment operations and reconciliations across complex asset classes and account structures.
Advanced Collaborative Communication: You communicate clearly and confidently in both written and verbal formats and are capable of leading discussions with internal stakeholders, custodians, and external counterparties to resolve complex and high‑risk issues.
Analytical & Process‑Improvement Mindset: You think critically and logically to diagnose issues and identify root causes. You have demonstrated experience leading or driving process improvements, including automation, control enhancement, and scalability initiatives.
Strong Judgment & Problem Solving: You have a proven ability to analyze incomplete or ambiguous information, exercise sound professional judgment, and develop effective, sustainable solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
Continuous Learning & Curiosity: You demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. You quickly acquire new knowledge, adapt to change, and take ownership of developing deeper subject‑matter expertise.
