Research & Development

Reckitt’s R&D Centre in Gurgaon is home to the Centre of Excellence for Personal Care. As a result, a fair bit of investment in capability (people as well as hardware) is being made at R&D Gurgaon on Personal Care R&D. This role is of an R&D Manager with a focus on Bar Soaps (with specific focus on South Asia which happens to be the biggest market for Bar Soaps within Reckitt). The candidate will be responsible for leading the R&D Innovation program for Bar Soaps – especially focused on the Dettol Original platform. The candidate will also be responsible for making sure the region needs are well represented in the Global Innovation programmes for Bar soaps by working closely with senior R&D leadership in Personal Care (across Category R&D and PDM). This role will report into the Global Category Director for Bar Soaps, based in Gurgaon.

About The Role

You will oversee all technical development and innovation activities for our Dettol Original Bar Soaps portfolio in South Asia. The capabilities in this space are going to expand in Gurgaon over time so this is a unique opportunity to set up relevant capabilities and partnerships – within and external to Reckitt. You will be a critical business partner to our Category Development Organization (CDO marketing) and regional leadership teams in helping to shape the future of the category and the largest GP market for Bar Soaps.

Your responsibilities

• Direct line management responsibility for the Dettol Original Bar Soaps Category R&D team on the ground in Gurgaon
• Will be responsible for shaping, aligning and driving the Detol Original Bar soap global strategic plans and innovation pipeline for South Asia.
• Functional leadership responsibilities include driving Category R&D Innovation (product design/delivery) and providing strategic oversight for Microbiology, Clinical, Regulatory & Analytical capabilities in Gurgaon, especially in the context of the Bar Soap innovation program
• The individual will interface closely with cross-functional teams across CDO Marketing, IMEX, Supply, and other key functional matrix groups to advance initiatives successfully through the product development cycle and define clear brand/product strategies to achieve business growth objectives.
• Motivate and develop teams within a results-oriented culture, where personal ownership, being ‘nimble’, strong teamwork, and ‘care for colleagues’ are key.
• Prioritize R&D project portfolio and oversee the day to day management of technical resources and budget, ensuring adequate funding / resourcing of projects required to meet category bar soap growth targets.
• Develop and maintain best in class expertise and capabilities within the technologies relevant / core to Bar Soaps.
