The BCC is now known as BCN (Bain Capability Network) with its nodes across various geographies. BCN is an integral and largest unit of (ECD) Expert Client Delivery. ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bains case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutioning across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.

 

Who you will work with

This position is based in the BCN’s Gurgaon office and is an integral part of the Performance Improvement Centre of Expertise (PI CoE). PI CoE helps Bain case teams in India and abroad on multiple cost reduction/optimization activities through a suite of solutions ranging from Procurement (Spend cube, analytics, maturity assessment, vendor strategy etc.), Zero-based budgeting (Cost visibility, Budgeting, Initiative tracking, client training), Supply Chain (Inventory Diagnostics, Inventory Optimization, Network Optimization, Manufacturing Diagnostics, Integrated Business Planning etc.) to cost diagnostics (Value Calculator, Net Working Capital etc.), savings and PMI Analysis.

The CoE undertakes complex and advanced data analysis to analyze client’s data and then generates critical insights to help achieve the cost objective. Over time we have built seamless solutions and use powerful, dynamic visualizations/charts on multiple platforms (Power BI, Tableau) to showcase our results. PI CoE is also involved in generation of critical IP useful for new performance improvement cases globally at Bain.

 

What you’ll do 

Project Leader leads a team of 3-4 team members of Analysts and Associates on problem solving, work-planning, analytics, research, and overall content to produce client ready materials and generate business insights and implications. You will also help Bain partners in developing intellectual property (IP), go-to-market materials, pitch documents and publications. The position reports into a Manager/Sr. Manager

  1. Help to set-up/expand ‘Manufacturing Excellence’ team in PI CoE, by leveraging strong domain knowledge in manufacturing and analytics to expand existing offerings and/or create new solutions
  1. Own end to end case delivery of Manufacturing Excellence and/or Supply Chain projects. This includes the following:
  • For a project, lead the BCN team in translation of disparate/complex client data into meaningful solutions by use of ETL/analytics; in areas of four-walls plant performance improvement, manufacturing network design, inventory optimization, S&OP, and transportation
  • Assist case teams across Bain’s ecosystem to analyze the problem and deploy the most appropriate tool/solution
  • Review and provide guidance to the BCN team on the ongoing cases; monitor and balance workloads
  1. Utilize appropriate research sources and analytical tools to identify and employ relevant data-driven insights for effective decision-making
  2. Ensure timely and high-quality output/analysis produced by the junior team members; conduct reality checks on the answers before communicating to the client
  3. Communicate data, knowledge, and clearly explain insights and implications for the client to the entire team
  4. Effectively communicate with BCN leadership/case teams/end clients and manage relationships
  5. Demonstrate a strong ability to quickly grasp various business domains, conducting research and analysis across diverse geographies and industries with agility and efficiency.
  6. Engage with Practice leadership on evolving IP/existing products; and ideate in developing new products/IP 
  7. Provide thought leadership and sound business judgment to drive benchmarking support on cases across geographies and industries
  8. Provide feedback towards constant improvement and recognize team’s development needs


About you

  1. Candidate should be a graduate/post-graduate with strong academic records and relevant experience in manufacturing excellence or operations related work in consulting/industry
  2. Good domain knowledge on key manufacturing topics. The candidate should be able to lead and execute comprehensive four-wall analysis for manufacturing facilities, identifying opportunities for operational improvements in areas such as quality, efficiency, and cost reduction
  3. Prior experience working with OEE, utilization, bottleneck analysis, throughput optimization, quality analytics and other manufacturing performance indicators
  4. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodology is preferred
  5. Ability to work with operational systems and data sources (MES/SCADA/ERP) to aggregate and validate plant data
  6. Work experience range in case highest qualification is undergraduate studies – 5-8 years of relevant experience in industry or consulting firms (preference for consulting experience)
  7. Work experience range in case highest qualification is postgraduate studies – 3-6 years of relevant experience in industry or consulting firms (consulting experience preferred)
  8. Excellent analytical skills, communication skills (ability to deliver clear and professional presentations to senior stakeholders), team management and project management skills
  9. Knowledge of visualization and tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI (Python is a plus)
  10. Ability to deal with ambiguity, handle multiple tasks and dynamic case expectations
