Help shape the future of AI-powered creative production at Amazon. As a GenAI Design Technologist, you will pioneer the intersection of Generative AI and creative production - shipping tools and workflows that transform how product images and videos are created at scale.

We are operationalizing Generative AI for visual content creation. This team partners with world-class artists and scientists to push whats possible with image generation, video synthesis, and multimodal AI systems. You will work at the rare intersection where creative craft meets technical depth.

In this role, you will:

• Develop, optimize, and scale Generative AI workflows and pipelines for production-grade visual content
• Act as the bridge between creative teams and AI/ML engineering - translating artistic intent into scalable technical solutions
• Build automation that removes bottlenecks and enables content creators to focus on what they do best
• Evaluate emerging foundational models and translate the latest research breakthroughs into production-ready capabilities
• Partner with engineers and scientists on prompt engineering frameworks and centralized GenAI tooling

This role is ideal for someone whos equal parts technologist and creative problem solver - someone who can evaluate output quality with a trained eye while optimizing the pipeline that produces it. You will ship work that directly impacts the shopping experience for hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.



Key job responsibilities
• Develop, test, and optimize Generative AI workflows and pipelines for visual content production using inference platforms and services
• Act as a bridge between creative teams and AI/ML engineering - translating production needs into technical requirements and delivering working solutions
• Build and maintain automation scripts and tools that resolve workflow bottlenecks, improve content quality, and increase creator productivity
• Evaluate AI-generated output for visual quality, brand consistency, and production readiness - applying both technical metrics and creative judgment
• Support the fine-tuning, testing, and evaluation of foundational models and LLMs for image generation, video synthesis, and multimodal content creation
• Design and implement prompt engineering frameworks that enable consistent, high-quality results at scale across content types
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to contribute to a centralized suite of GenAI tools used across visual content workflows
• Research and prototype emerging Generative AI capabilities - assessing production viability and recommending adoption paths to creative leadership
• Develop batch processing solutions and content pipelines that enable teams to generate, review, and publish AI-created assets efficiently
• Document workflows, best practices, and technical specifications to enable partner teams to adopt generative workflows independently
• Participate in cross-functional reviews to align AI tooling development with evolving creative standards and business requirements

A day in the life
In this role, you will move between creative and technical work. You might review AI-generated image outputs -tuning prompts and parameters to improve quality and consistency. Then shift to prototyping a workflow with a creative lead and ML engineer, translating a creative brief into a scalable technical solution. You could also be evaluating a new foundational model for production readiness or helping a partner team adopt your automation pipeline. Throughout it all, you will collaborate closely with creative directors, applied scientists, and content producers - solving the gap between what AI can technically generate and what meets the visual quality bar at scale.

Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors degree or above in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in front-end technology, engineering, or UX prototyping
- Coding samples in front-end programming languages
- Available online portfolio demonstrating relevant work
- Experience with web, mobile web, or mobile app front-end development
- Experience with UI design for complex workflows and for end users
- Experience building scripts, tooling, and automation for large-scale computing environments
- Experience with prompt engineering techniques for content generation Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of technologies such as JavaScript/Node.js, HTML/CSS, Responsive/Adaptive Design
- Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, and source control (Git)
- Experience with Machine Learning and Large Language Model fundamentals, including architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization of model execution
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- Knowledge of video production, live streaming technologies, studio workflows, edit and post-production techniques, production calendars and staffing
