About The Role

We are looking for a Business Research & Data Analyst who can research markets and businesses, organise data and turn it into useful insights. The role involves working with information from websites, reports, databases, APIs and other external sources.

The person should be comfortable understanding a business problem, finding the right data, structuring it properly and presenting clear findings. This is primarily a research and analytics role, not a machine learning role.

Key Responsibilities

• Research industries, markets, companies, competitors and customers.
• Understand business questions and decide what information and data are required.
• Find relevant data from public sources, government portals, company websites, reports, databases and APIs.
• Collect and combine information from spreadsheets, PDFs, websites and other sources.
• Create and maintain data models for business entities, attributes and relationships.
• Clean, standardise, validate and remove duplicate data.
• Use SQL, Excel and Python to analyse data and identify trends, gaps and opportunities.
• Prepare market sizing, benchmarking, company profiling and comparative analysis.
• Build simple scoring and classification models where required.
• Document data sources, definitions, assumptions and limitations.
• Present findings through reports, presentations and dashboards.
• Work with product and engineering teams when research or data needs to be included in a product.
  
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong business and secondary research skills.
• Good understanding of business models, industries and market structures.
• Strong Excel and SQL skills.
• Working knowledge of Python, especially Pandas.
• Good understanding of relational data modelling.
• Experience cleaning and combining data from multiple sources.
• Ability to define metrics, categories and scoring methods.
• Basic knowledge of APIs and web scraping using tools such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy or Playwright.
• Ability to explain findings clearly to business and product teams.
  
  
  

Education And Experience

• B.Tech in a relevant discipline or an MBA from a recognised institution.
• 3-6 years of experience in business research, data analytics, market intelligence, consulting or a related role.
• Experience working with incomplete or unstructured business data.
  
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a consulting, research, analytics or data-driven product company.
• Experience with external business, consumer, healthcare, financial, demographic or geographic datasets.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Metabase or a similar visualisation tool.
• Exposure to statistical analysis, geospatial data or LLM-based information extraction.
