Data Architect II designs and implements data models, supports data governance, and evaluates data management tools, while managing metadata and conducting data quality assessments to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements data models and database structures in alignment with platform blueprints by conducting detailed analysis and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Supports data governance initiatives and ensures compliance with established data standards by participating in governance meetings and implementing policies
  • Develops and maintains prototypes for new database management systems and related tools by coding, testing, and refining prototypes based on feedback
  • Promotes the use of new database management system functionality and tools within the project team by conducting training sessions and creating user guides
  • Manages metadata and assists in the creation of logical data architecture for assigned technology platforms by maintaining metadata repositories and ensuring consistency
  • Collaborates with senior architects to ensure data architecture aligns with enterprise data governance standards by reviewing designs and providing feedback
  • Evaluates and recommends data management tools and technologies by researching options and preparing comparison reports
  • Conducts data quality assessments and implements data quality improvement initiatives by identifying data issues and developing corrective actions
  • Collaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectives

Qualifications

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, and/or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., IMS, DB2 zOS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Netezza, Hadoop, MapR), online transaction processing and online analytical processing systems
  • Knowledge of data modeling tools (e.g., ErStudio, ErWin)
  • Knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems and algorithms
  • Knowledge of NOSQL design and flexible schema definitions with a variety of products (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase)
  • Knowledge of infrastructure technologies and components (e.g., servers, Java virtual machines, networking concepts)

Work Experience

  • Experience in data architecture, data modeling, database development, and/or comparable experience
  • Experience in data integration tools and extract, transform, and load processes (e.g., extract, transform, and load tools like Informatica, Talend, or SSIS)
  • Experience in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and data warehousing solutions
  • Experience in data security protocols and compliance standards
  • Experience in documenting data processes and workflows
  • Experience in data modeling and database design principles
  • Experience in metadata management and database management concepts
