Job Description

Job Overview

About the Role:

The team: Our Engineering team develops and maintains modern, cloud-based applications and AI-powered solutions that support global business operations. Team members collaborate across Product, Architecture, QA, and DevOps functions to build reliable, secure, and scalable solutions. The team embraces agile delivery practices and encourages continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.

Responsibilities and impact:

We build a platform that replaces manual month-end NAV reconciliation and investor income allocation processes for hedge fund operations teams. You will be the bridge between our fund clients and our engineering team — understanding how each clients fund accounting operations work, translating that into precise specifications, and ensuring the platform delivers correct financial outcomes. This is a client-facing role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead UAT and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate directly with fund operations teams during month-end to observe reconciliation and allocation workflows, conduct feature demonstrations, and drive user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Own End-to-End Validation: Manage the full feature delivery lifecycle, ensuring that calculation results are fully verified and confirmed as accurate by the client before deeming a feature complete.
  • Drive Hands-on Analysis: Act as a forward-deployed business analyst by drafting comprehensive specifications, exploring complex calculation edge cases, and proactively contributing to technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering: Partner closely with engineering teams to define and refine data models and calculation logic, ensuring business requirements translate into robust technical implementations.
  • Execute Technical Validation: Perform hands-on data validation and analysis by utilizing SQL and other technical tools to verify system outputs and ensure data integrity.
  • Integrate AI-Augmented Workflows: Leverage AI assistants to accelerate analysis and process efficiency, maintaining a curiosity-driven approach to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with new technology.

What we’re looking for:

You will have 5-8 years of experience with fluency in fund accounting: NAV calculation, trial balances, portfolio valuations, realized vs. unrealized P&L, management and performance fee waterfalls, hurdle rates, high water marks, investor allocations, capital activity processing (subscriptions, redemptions, transfers), equalisation mechanics, and accounting period controls.

Required Skills

  • Domain Expertise and Accounting Rigor: Deep knowledge of fund accounting and administration systems, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills to break down complex scenarios, identify edge cases, and maintain absolute precision in calculations to prevent compounding errors across periods.
  • Business Analysis and Delivery: Proven proficiency in requirements elicitation—including structured interviews, process flows, and defining acceptance criteria—combined with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset to drive deliverables to completion without needing prompting.
  • Client Relations and Results Focus: Exceptional client-facing confidence in presenting methodologies and fielding difficult questions when results deviate, with an outcome-driven mindset that measures success strictly by the accuracy of financial results rather than completed process steps.
  • Technical Acumen and AI Integration: Strong technical literacy, including SQL for data analysis and validation, paired with a genuine appetite for integrating and utilizing AI-augmented workflows daily to accelerate work and contribute directly to technical solutions.

Preferred Skills

  • Fund Accounting & Operations Expertise: Deep functional expertise in fund accounting operations, encompassing complex fee calculation methodologies (management fee accrual, incentive fees with hurdle and HWM, equalisation, crystallisation, series/lot accounting), investor reporting, capital activity workflows, multi-currency fund structures, and comprehensive reconciliation workflows, including managing tolerance thresholds, variance investigation, and resolution processes.
  • AI-Augmented Technical Skills: Demonstrated hands-on practical experience utilizing AI assistants (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) as essential tools to accelerate and optimize professional workflows, specifically applying them to complex financial analysis, specification writing, and data exploration tasks.
