The opportunity

The primary role of a Tax Manager in COE will lead teams of Analysts, Seniors and Assistant Managers and will be responsible for client service delivery for a particular client, geography, area or specialization. Reporting to a Senior Manager or Partner/ Executive Director, they will assist the management team in developing and coaching team members as well as ensuring that resources are deployed effectively. A manager is expected to develop collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues and provide necessary support to related teams like tax reporting, Withholding tax, etc.
Your Key Responsibilities
In addition to specific competencies required for your role, you will also focus on developing the following in relation to firm-wide competencies:
Perform high level review and analysis of indirect tax returns including VAT, GST and Withholding Tax etc.
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency of tax technical knowledge relevant to international tax; demonstrate an understanding of more complex technical issues
Set performance measurements and ensure that performance goals, including engagement economics, turnaround time and quality targets are met
Identify and champion new services that the sub-service line can perform at the GDS
Knowledge of the firm policies related to independence, confidentiality and privacy, client acceptance and engagement letters, tax return preparer guidelines and knowledge-sharing
Represent the sub-service line practice to external audiences
High level knowledge on handling tax documentation remediation projects (All types of forms W-8s and W-9s review) for both chapter 3 and chapter 4 reporting perspectives.
Review complex filing forms 1042-S and 1099 and other operational tax types (WHT, GST, VAT etc) and have them ready for final sign off
Cross-sell extended services to clients
Encouraging others to ask critical questions and share their ideas and concerns openly

Ideally, you’ll also have
Effective communication skills by being articulate, thoughtful, and adapting communications to target audiences, interacting effectively in person, by phone and in writing
Good analytical, numeric and people management skills
What We Look For
Education:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance/commerce
Experience:
8-10 years of working with major global corporation (Big 4/Finance shared services/Banking etc.)
Experience on accounts and Indirect tax knowledge will be an added advantage
Additional Skills requirements:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Advance Excel, PowerPoint and Projects.
Hands on experience in tax technical skills, accounting concepts, would be an added advantage
Good analytical, numeric and people management skills
Strong client service focus; responsive to request and capable of maintaining a sense of urgency in resolving issues
Able to demonstrate the ability to deliver quality analysis with tight deadlines and take full ownership of your work while learning diligently on the job
