Job Description
The Finance trainee apprentice will be responsible for supporting key financial and accounting processes within the organization. The role will involve structured training, collaboration and opportunity to experience the dynamic world of Amex Finance every day.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accounting entries and assist with other routine month-close tasks, as assigned
- Perform basic data analysis, including creating spreadsheets, summarizing financial information, identifying trends and drafting variance commentary
- Collaborate with other Finance teams/functions to gather relevant financial information to meet the requirements of the role
- Provide tactical support to ongoing projects
- Assist in preparation/refresh of standard operating procedures
- Ensure adherence to company’s financial policies
Ensure responsible AI usage by supporting validation, data quality checks, incremental controls and adherence to governance standards as defined for the Enterprise and Finance organization
Qualifications
- Graduates in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance or related disciplines with 0–11 months of work experience preferred.
- Understanding and application of basic accounting principles.
- Familiarity with financial statements and key financial reporting concepts.
- Appreciation of the role and criticality of Finance within a multinational organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint and Word); exposure to data analytics tools is a plus.
- Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude, agility, curiosity and willingness to learn and develop.
- Understanding financial controls, governance and risk management concepts is desirable.
Conversant with Generative AI concepts and AI-enabled productivity tools and emerging technologies (e.g., agents, Python, APIs, SQL, Power BI, automation tools) and applying them to business and finance use cases will be an added advantage.
