Who You Will Work With 

Bain’s Sustainability Center of Excellence (CoE) plays a pivotal role in advancing the firm’s sustainability and carbon management initiatives. This position involves managing smaller sustainability cases, supporting complex cases under the direction of Project Leaders, and delivering actionable insights that drive Bain’s global sustainability goals.

As part of the S&R Flex Team, the Associate operates globally across diverse industries, managing 1–3 Analysts, and contributes to Bain’s offerings related to S&R practice. The role emphasizes working with frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, analyzing Scope 1–3 emissions, and staying abreast of carbon regulations. The Associate also applies technical expertise by implementing small-scale automation solutions using coding and AI tools.

 

What Youll do

The Analyst in Bain’s Sustainability Center of Excellence (CoE) plays a pivotal role in advancing the firm’s sustainability vision and contributing to the client cases related to leading ESG topics such as Carbon, Circularity, Water and Food systems etc. This position offers significant autonomy to generate insights, analyze and improve ESG metrics, recommend sustainability initiatives, drive impactful strategies, and support organizational goals through innovative solutions and data-driven recommendations.  

The Analyst will be an integral part of the S&R team, working closely with the Associates under the guidance of Project Leader, supporting on sustainability related client case, CD efforts and IPs. This will involve interacting daily with senior stakeholders at Bain, including Practice Directors and Managers, ensuring alignment, and driving meaningful progress on sustainability cases.  

Sustainability expertise –  

  1. Build and apply deep expertise in sustainability topics, including emission benchmarking, baselining and deep-dives on regulations etc. 
  2. Develop models for Scope 1–3 emissions using globally recognized frameworks such as the GHG Protocol. 
  3. Monitor and interpret evolving S&R regulations and global standards to ensure compliance and best practices. 
  4. Support the design and implementation of comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with regulatory frameworks and business objectives. 

Data analysis and Insight generation –  

  1. Proficiently identify and use relevant analytical tools to deliver zero-defect outputs across all workstreams, ensuring quality and reliability in analysis. 
  2. Synthesize insights from data trends and patterns to identify key opportunities and risks. 
  3. Communication and Stakeholder engagement – 
  4. Clearly articulate findings, insights, and implications to both internal and external stakeholders through concise and impactful communication. 
  5. Strong technical writing skills to effectively communicate ESG data, methodologies, and insights in reports, policies, and disclosures. 
  6. Work closely with Associates and Project Leaders to resolve complex issues across workstreams, providing actionable insights and recommendations. 

Technical proficiency –  

  1. Leverage advanced data analytics tools, including Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, and / or Tableau Prep to analyze data and create impactful visualizations. 
  2. Identify ways to leverage AI in our everyday processes, enhancing the efficiency of the team. 

 

About You

  1. Bachelor’s degree with 0.5-1 years of experience, preferably having an ESG exposure. 
  2. Advanced excel, power-point and data analytics skills and familiarity with Tableau and/or Alteryx; Background in data analytics / data science or engineering is strongly preferred. 
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple complex tasks, summarize and generate clear recommendations.  
  4. Exceptional team collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environment.
