Job Description

The QA/QC Welding Inspector is a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of welding processes and structures within various industrial projects. This position involves thorough inspections, assessments, and evaluations of welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards. The Welding Inspector will work closely with production teams, engineers, and project managers to identify potential problems and provide effective solutions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in welding inspections, strong analytical skills, and be highly detail-oriented. They must be capable of managing multiple tasks and maintaining quality control within fast-paced environments. Additionally, they will serve as a liaison between quality control teams and project stakeholders, ensuring that all welding operations comply with the company’s high standards and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of welding sites to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Monitor welding processes to verify adherence to approved procedures and specifications.
  • Examine welds to ensure they meet the required quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports for management and project teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to address welding concerns promptly.
  • Identify potential welding defects and recommend corrective actions to ensure quality.
  • Oversee the testing and validation of welding equipment and materials for safety compliance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining quality control procedures and documentation for welding.
  • Verify welder qualifications and certification to uphold quality standards and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to welding personnel on quality control practices and standards.
  • Coordinate with external inspectors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure all safety and health regulations are enforced during welding operations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, metallurgy, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in welding inspection or a similar role required.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from AWS or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Thorough understanding of welding codes, standards, and regulations is essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail in inspections required.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment relevant to welding inspections.
