Job Description

The role of a QA/QC Welding Inspector is crucial in ensuring the quality and integrity of welding work across various projects. This position involves meticulous inspection and verification of welding activities to ensure compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations. A successful candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, extensive knowledge of welding techniques, and familiarity with quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes. They will play a pivotal role in overseeing the entire welding process from pre-weld inspections, monitoring during the welding, and conducting post-weld evaluations. This job demands effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with engineers, project managers, and welding teams. Additionally, they must stay updated with the latest developments in welding technology and standards to effectively uphold the quality and safety of welding projects.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-weld inspections to verify welding procedures and materials compliance.
  • Monitor welding activities to ensure adherence to established safety standards.
  • Review welding specifications and standards, assuring they meet project requirements.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on welds to identify defects or inconsistencies.
  • Document and report all welding inspections and findings in detail.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to resolve non-conformances.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of welding procedures and welding personnel qualifications.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of QC and QA strategies for welding tasks.
  • Ensure all welding equipment and tools are properly calibrated and functioning.
  • Verify that all welding documentation is complete and accurately recorded.
  • Provide training and guidance to welding staff on best practices and standards.
  • Participate in the investigation of welding defects and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in welding inspection preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding inspection or related field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of welding codes and standards, such as AWS, ASME.
  • Proficiency in performing various types of non-destructive testing methods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills for accurate inspections.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective reporting.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environments.
