Job Description

A Merchandiser is a pivotal player in the retail industry, responsible for ensuring that products appear in the right store, at the right time and in the right quantities. This role requires a blend of creativity, analytical thinking, and attention to detail to drive sales, understanding market trends to ensure maximum profitability of business operations. Merchandisers work closely with buyers and suppliers, overseeing the inventory management process, and ensuring displays are engaging and accurately represent the brand. Through strategic planning and effective negotiation with suppliers, they ensure the best product mix is available to meet consumer demands and exceed sales targets. Their efforts directly influence the customer experience and brand image in the marketplace.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with buyers and suppliers to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Analyze sales trends and market data to inform merchandising strategies.
  • Develop and execute promotional strategies to boost product visibility and sales.
  • Collaborate with store teams to optimize product placement and displays.
  • Create and manage effective inventory control plans to minimize stock shortages.
  • Forecast inventory needs based on historical sales data and market trends.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible purchase terms and costs.
  • Review supply contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with suppliers to resolve any issues or delays.
  • Monitor competitor activities to identify market opportunities and threats.
  • Produce reports and maintain accurate records of sales, stock levels, and financial outcomes.
  • Liaise with marketing teams to coordinate promotional campaigns and product launches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Merchandiser or similar role in the retail sector.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for managing relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage inventory and product placements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, for internal and external collaboration.
