Job Description

As a Manager of Retail Buying, you will spearhead the buying department, crafting strategies that increase profitability and elevate our brand's reputation in the marketplace. This pivotal role requires you to harness your expertise in market analysis, trend forecasting, and vendor negotiations to ensure the procurement of quality merchandise that meets customer expectations. You will be responsible for managing and developing a dynamic team, driving sales, and optimizing inventory turnover. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of consumer preferences, you will play an integral part in excelling our retail offerings and contributing to the sustainable growth of the company.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement retail buying strategies to maximize company profitability.
  • Analyze market trends and consumer preferences to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Negotiate contracts and establish lasting relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor product performance and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
  • Manage and mentor a team of retail buyers to achieve departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective product promotion plans.
  • Maintain an optimal inventory turnover rate by managing stock levels effectively.
  • Conduct regular competitor analysis to identify market opportunities and threats.
  • Ensure all purchased products meet quality standards and company specifications.
  • Prepare and manage the department's budget, monitoring spending to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Continually assess new potential vendors to diversify product offerings.
  • Present purchasing metrics and strategies to senior management in regular meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in retail buying or merchandising management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team to achieve targets.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of successful vendor partnerships.
  • Excellent analytical skills with experience in market and trend analysis.
  • Solid understanding of retail math and inventory management principles.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate with various departments.
