Job Description

As a Manager Retail Buying, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the inventory and strategies of the retail business. This position involves leading a team of buyers to source, negotiate, and purchase the products that will stock our shelves, ensuring they meet customer preferences and respond to market trends. You will be responsible for developing and implementing buying strategies that align with and support the overall business objectives, optimizing product selection, and maximizing profitability. Your insights will steer the product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities, fostering strong relationships with suppliers while maintaining a competitive edge in the retail market. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, and leadership to guide your team in delivering high-quality products to our consumers.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic buying plans in line with retail objectives.
  • Analyze market trends to inform product selection and procurement strategies.
  • Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to secure optimal deals.
  • Lead and mentor buying team members to achieve department goals effectively.
  • Oversee inventory management and stock levels to minimize overstock and shortages.
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to align product promotions.
  • Monitor competitor products, pricing strategies, and market positioning.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply chain.
  • Evaluate product performance and adjust buying strategies accordingly.
  • Provide regular financial and operational reports to senior management.
  • Ensure buying practices comply with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Implement continuous improvement measures to enhance buying efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in retail buying, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a track record of successful supplier agreements.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with experience managing a high-performing team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for supplier and team interaction.
  • Familiarity with retail management systems and advanced proficiency in MS Office.
