Job Description

An Indian Cook is a culinary professional adept at preparing and cooking authentic Indian cuisine. The role requires a deep understanding of traditional Indian cooking techniques, spices, and recipes. An Indian Cook must be familiar with a wide range of Indian dishes, from starters and snacks to main courses and desserts. Their responsibilities include planning menus, preparing ingredients, cooking meals, and ensuring all dishes are presented beautifully. They must also adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and work efficiently under pressure. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of traditional Indian dishes with authentic taste.
  • Ensure the highest quality of food preparation and presentation at all times.
  • Plan menus according to seasonal availability and restaurant requirements.
  • Adapt recipes to modify ingredients for customer dietary needs or preferences.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the kitchen.
  • Manage inventory, perform stock checks, and procure necessary kitchen supplies.
  • Train junior kitchen staff on Indian cooking techniques and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe kitchen environment.
  • Monitor food storage, ensure proper refrigeration, and prevent contamination.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy hours.
  • Evaluate customers’ feedback and implement improvements to enhance dining experiences.
  • Stay updated with current culinary trends and incorporate them into the menu.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cook specializing in Indian cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and regional dishes.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently under pressure.
  • Understanding of health and safety principles in a kitchen setting.
  • Strong communication skills for both team collaboration and guest interaction.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
