Key Responsibilities
To ensure implementation of GPL safety management, prevention of accidents, occupational diseases and safe work environment in the zone. Ensure close co-ordination with HO Safety and Project Safety for implementation of management directives, conduct audits, drive compliance, capability building and continuous safety improvement across all projects in the zone.
Key Responsibilities
Process Adherence and Development:
- Implement Company Policies, Objectives, Programs & Procedures at the zone and assess its effectiveness periodically.
- Regular site visits and Collaboration with all stakeholders of project team to further strengthen and maintain GPL Safety Culture.
- Periodic feedback to Operation Head and HO Safety Head on gaps related to safety implementation and program for improvement. Escalation of issues to OH & HO Safety in case of major deviations/ concern.
- Effective intervention with the project team and stakeholders in case of conflicting situation in safety implementation.
- Support and facilitate Safety Kick-off meeting with all the contractors on board for alignment with GPL Safety requirements to be implemented.
- Review and analyse the monthly safety data (MPR) of the projects for gap analysis and continual improvement. Sharing presentation of statistical analysis to the Management at Zonal level.
- Ensure the effective implementation of Safety-First Portal at all the projects including timely compliances of the GPL safety requirements.
- Ensure implementation and participation in Rapid Audit and safety inspection as per project safety monthly activity planner.
- Plan and conduct regional safety council meeting with operation head and all project managers as per GPL SOP.
- Facilitate investigation of incidents for identifying causes and CAPA and submitting report to OH & HO Safety as per GPL SOP.
- Analyse the safety audit observations for root cause and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
Zonal Collaboration And Monitoring
- Provide inputs and assist the zonal HR for project safety resource planning and recruitment process.
- Provide inputs and involve in assessment of safety performance for the pre-qualification process for contractors & consultants.
- Provide inputs to zonal contract function for contract safety requirements for the contract packages as per scope/nature of work.
- Provide inputs for safety requirements to Zonal procurement function for procurement/hire of any equipment/machineries, formwork, scaffold etc. to be used at site.
- To oversee the implementation of safety at site through review mechanisms and periodic audit.
- Collating and sharing best practices and horizontal deployment of learnings across Zone.
- Encourage and support sites for nomination and participation in identified safety awards.
- Advise all sites in the Zone for compliances of BOCW and other OH&S related laws & relevant regulations.
Training And Mentoring
- Mentoring site safety team including PMC and contractor safety professionals for effective implementation.
- Reviewing the training needs at the Zonal level and ensure training & safety campaign conducted at the Zones and sites.
- Mentor and monitor professional development of the safety team.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Basic qualification: Degree or diploma in engineering preferably civil, mechanical or Science Graduate.
- Professional qualifications: Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety; minimum one year duration from State Board of Technical Exam, recognized under State Factories Rules / BOCW Central Rules or Diploma in Construction Safety Management from NICMAR.
- Preferably ISO 45001 certified Lead Auditor.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience.
- Familiar with safety & health legislations, standards & code of practices.
- Knowledge of ISO45001:2018.
- Have implemented / upgraded the safety management system.
- Hands on safety inspections, auditing and gap analysis.
- Development & rollout of safety standards, manual, plan, guidelines, checklists & trainings.
- Hazard identification & risk assessment (HIRA).
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis.
