The Sustainability Finance Specialist is responsible for integrating environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics into financial planning, reporting, and investment analysis. The role ensures that Hitachi Energy’s financial performance is transparently linked to its sustainability goals and provides the financial data, insights, and analysis needed to support sustainable business decisions. The position sits at the intersection of Sustainability, Finance & Controlling, and digital transformation, supporting sustainability-related reporting, green finance initiatives, and data-driven decision-making. The role works closely with Finance, Sustainability, and IT teams to improve data quality, strengthen compliance, and embed sustainability considerations into financial processes and systems.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Support the collection, validation, and analysis of financial and non-financial data required for sustainability disclosures.
Contribute to ESG reporting and compliance with global sustainability frameworks and regulatory requirements, including CSRD, EU Taxonomy, SSBJ, GRI, SASB, and the GHG Protocol.
Help ensure sustainability-related disclosures are accurate, auditable, and aligned with internal control and governance requirements.
Support the development and application of financial frameworks for green bonds, sustainable lending, and other green finance initiatives.
Track the allocation of proceeds toward eligible renewable energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainability-related projects.
Support the evaluation of capital expenditures and investment cases through sustainability-oriented financial analysis, including Green ROI and other relevant business case methodologies.
Contribute to the financial assessment of sustainable business models and related investment opportunities.
Integrate climate transition planning, scenario analysis, social value creation, and sustainability risk considerations into financial planning and modelling activities.
Support data modelling, forecasting, and analysis related to ESG performance and sustainability risks/opportunities.
Provide analytical support for strategic and ad hoc Sustainability Finance projects.
Translate complex environmental and sustainability-related data into clear financial implications, risks, and opportunities for senior leadership.
Work closely with Sustainability and IT teams to automate ESG data workflows within financial systems, including SAP S/4HANA.
Support the integration of sustainability data into Finance & Controlling systems to establish a single source of truth for reporting and decision-making, including double materiality perspectives.
Contribute to the improvement of data structures, system logic, and reporting processes to enhance data quality, consistency, and efficiency.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Sustainability, Engineering, Operations, IT, and senior leadership.
Support the coordination of cross-functional initiatives and projects related to Sustainability Finance.
Help bridge business, operational, and financial perspectives to ensure sustainability topics are reflected in business decisions and reporting processes.

Your Background
Should have Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional qualifications such as CA / CMA are advantageous.
Must have 5–7 years of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, and Reporting.
3+ years of experience in an ESG-focused role within the energy or manufacturing sector, or with a Big 4 firm, is a strong plus.
Additional certification in Data Science is preferred.
Experience in sustainability reporting, ESG data analysis, financial modelling, or sustainability-related finance transformation is highly desirable.
Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and reporting standards, including CSRD, GRI, SASB, SSBJ, and the GHG Protocol.
Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and the integration of sustainability-related data into financial systems.
Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modelling.
Ability to translate complex environmental and sustainability data into clear financial risks, opportunities, and decision-relevant insights.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to assess risks, dependencies, and interdependencies.
Project management skills with the ability to support multiple initiatives involving global stakeholders.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messages across different forums and organizational levels.
Strong written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multinational and cross-functional environment.
Good knowledge of internal controls, governance, documentation, and audit-related requirements.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
