Business Unit: EPS Mobility

Role: Supply Chain Manager/Executive - Motor

The Supply Chain Manager/Executive will lead the sourcing and procurement strategy for EV traction motor components across global and domestic suppliers. You will manage critical commodities such as laminations, magnets (NdFeB), copper, machined parts, castings, winding materials, insulation/resins, housings, sensors, and electronics, ensuring cost, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation. You will partner with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance to drive should?cost analysis, VAVE, supplier risk management, inventory optimization, and PPAP readiness for new and existing programs.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing Strategy & Supplier Development

  • Develop global and local sourcing strategy for traction motor commodities (laminations, magnets, copper, machining, castings, resins, winding materials, sensors).
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard capable suppliers based on quality, capacity, cost, technology, ESG , and logistics considerations.
  • Drive supplier APQP/PPAP readiness for all new programs.
  • Conduct VDA 6.3 or equivalent supplier audits and ensure closure of gaps.
  • Build dual?sourcing and localization strategy to reduce cost and supply risk.

Cost Management & Commercial Excellence

  • Lead should?cost analysis , benchmarking, and value engineering (VAVE) with Design/ME.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long?term agreements (LTAs).
  • Manage cost reduction roadmap (material, logistics, process optimization).
  • Track Cogs , PPV, and commodity risk exposure (magnet & copper price volatility).

Supplier Quality & Performance Management

  • Work closely with SQE & Quality to ensure suppliers meet PPM targets, process capability (Cp/Cpk) , and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Monitor supplier scorecards (OTD, quality, responsiveness, cost).
  • Ensure timely closure of 8D / corrective actions for supplier issues.
  • Drive improvements in incoming quality, lot traceability, and testing standards.

Procurement Operations & Inventory Management

  • Ensure material availability for stator, rotor, and assembly lines through demand planning and effective communication with suppliers.
  • Manage inventory levels to meet DOH, turns , and safety stock targets.
  • Run S&OP/S&OE processes: demand/supply alignment, shortage management, and escalation.
  • Implement structured procurement processes (PR → PO → GRN → Invoicing).

Logistics & Supply Continuity

  • Build robust inbound logistics plans for domestic and international suppliers.
  • Manage freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and material flows to production.
  • Monitor supply risks (capacity, geopolitical, logistics, regulatory) and execute mitigation plans.
  • Lead crisis management for shortages, quality escapes, or supplier disruptions.

Cross?Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Design Engineering on DFM, specifications, and early supplier involvement.
  • Partner with Manufacturing & ME for tooling readiness, capacity, and ramp-up planning.
  • Align with Finance on budgeting, working capital, and contract terms.
  • Support Program Management on NPI timelines, PPAP, Run@Rate, and launch readiness.

Systems, Compliance & Governance

  • Maintain data accuracy in ERP systems ( SAP/Oracle/D365 ).
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 , environmental regulations, RoHS/REACH, and supplier ethics/ESG policies.
  • Manage documentation: RFQ, BOM, contract files, PPAP records, risk registers.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean, digital dashboards, and analytics.

Qualifications

  • 4–12+ years in supply chain, sourcing, or procurement in automotive or electro?mechanical manufacturing.
  • Deep understanding of EV motor components: Laminations (stamping, stacking), Magnets (NdFeB grades, coatings, supply risk), Copper wire/hairpin, insulation, varnish/resins, Precision machining, castings, shafts, housings, Sensors, connectors, harnesses
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, and supplier audits.
  • Strong negotiation, commercial, and risk management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain analytics.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision making under ambiguity
