Staff Architect

Lead the architecture that saves lives. As a Staff Architect at Lytx, youll shape the technical vision for a video telematics platform that protects over 1.3 million connected vehicles worldwide.

Youll serve as a key technical authority, driving enterprise-wide architectural strategy across diverse technology stacks (C#/.NET, Java, Python). Define API-first and microservices standards that engineering teams follow. Lead cross-functional initiatives that turn complex challenges into scalable solutions. Architect systems that process millions of real-time events, powering AI-driven insights that keep drivers safer.

YOULL GET TO

• Shape enterprise architecture strategy for systems managing 1.3M+ devices, defining technical roadmaps and owning non-functional requirements at scale
• Champion API-first design and microservices architecture across the organization—setting standards, creating reusable patterns, and leading architecture governance
• Drive innovation with AI/ML technologies, integrating intelligent capabilities into products and promoting AI tools to enhance team productivity
• Lead cross-functional projects across multiple technology stacks (C#/.NET, Java, Python), guiding teams through complex technical challenges
• Influence engineering direction through architecture reviews, technical advisement, and building consensus on critical decisions
• Mentor architects and engineers as a recognized technical authority, elevating organizational capabilities through coaching and knowledge sharing
• Conduct experiments and proofs of concept to evaluate emerging technologies with an evidence-based, bias-for-action approach

WHAT YOULL NEED

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience (post-graduate work desirable)
• 10+ years building scalable systems in enterprise environments
• 7+ years in architecture roles with demonstrated cross-functional leadership
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification required
• Expertise across multiple programming languages and cloud platforms

Technical Authority:

• Deep expertise in multiple languages: C#/.NET, Java, Python, or other enterprise stacks
• Mastery of API-first design, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and microservices architecture at enterprise scale
• Proven experience architecting complex distributed systems, IoT solutions, and cloud-native platforms on AWS
• Advanced knowledge of event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, containerization, and infrastructure as code
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities and driving adoption of AI-assisted development practices

Leadership & Influence:

• You lead cross-functional projects and build consensus across engineering teams
• You communicate complex technical concepts persuasively to engineers and executive leadership
• You act as advisor and coach, elevating the skills of architects and engineers around you
• You integrate business strategy into architectural decisions and influence organizational direction
• You solve novel problems with innovative approaches and sound judgment

• You understand competitive differentiation and contribute to long-term technical strategy
• You see how architectural decisions ripple across the organization and use those connections
• You balance innovation with pragmatism, knowing when to experiment and when to standardize
• Youre comfortable with ambiguity and have latitude to determine approaches to critical assignments

Youll work closely with engineering leadership and architecture peers, serving as a technical authority across multiple teams. This role offers progression into principal-level positions and opportunities to expand your influence across the organization.
