Role Overview

The purpose of the role is to provide level 2 & 3 technical assistance and support for the Liquid Data application offered by Circana to their clients in the South Africa region.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess incidents (or problems) and provide solutions for issues that cannot be managed by the level 1 support team, including coordinating with other teams when required.
  • Perform root cause analysis, communication, and client relationship management in partnership with other teams.
  • Implement change requests according to the change management framework and meet project deliverables.
  • Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and health checks to ensure the stability of the applications in operation.
  • Identify improvements as part of the BAU work to address recurring issues, close monitoring gaps, and automate/reduce manual work.
  • Understand and achieve Service Level commitments.
  • Ability to work after hours, including weekends and nights, when required.
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines and policies.
  • Continuously improve the brand image of the organisation.

Requirements

Must have:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in working with web-based application infrastructure and enterprise systems
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Production support working in a globally distributed team
  • Experience in troubleshooting applications hosted on Unix/Linux.
  • Experience working with UNIX shell and BASH scripts to determine causes of failures.
  • Good experience with ITIL and ticketing workflows.
  • Intermediate knowledge of writing SQL queries to diagnose and extract data.
  • Intermediate experience in Linux and UNIX administration features.
  • Ability to research solutions to various business and technical problems, evaluate alternatives and be able to present recommendations and justifications to management.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of the FMCG business domain
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and issues
  • Experience in Python
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MonetDB
