Baxter’s Front Line Care business products expand Diagnosis & Therapies to better help patients and physicians to manage chronic or acute respiratory and cardiac diseases (COPD, CHF, etc.).  The earlier the diagnosis & treatment for these patients – the better the quality of life.  The $1.2B business portfolio includes products for Cardiology, Patient monitoring, airway clearance, ventilation and Intelligent diagnostics. The role of Senior Engineer is to make technical contribution in Systems & Electronics engineering activities by providing technical contribution within an area of expertise to contribute towards requirement, analysis, detailed design and verification activities for an assigned product, project or solution.  The successful candidate will possess “hands-on” technical abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients. This position is based out of Bangalore and reporting to the Hardware Manager of Front Line Care business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·       Identifies technical problems, provides innovative, creative solutions; shares technical knowledge with team.

·       Incorporates business, market, industry and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.

·       Generate alternatives and take reasonable risks while solving technical problems.

·       Work and collaborate closely with Project Manager to define and solve engineering changes/problems to make products that meet all performance and functional criteria within required project schedule, with minimum guidance.

·       Participate or lead in design/change reviews with the Sustaining Team and Engineering Change Board – justify design detail and collaborate with other team members

·       Complete detailed, high quality technical documentation of product designs through the generation and maintenance of design requirement specifications, engineering prints, material specifications and bills-of-materials

·       Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment.

·       Uses existing engineering tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics.

·       Challenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levels

·       Informs others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments.

·       Presents the findings / objective evidence and able to present with rationale with applicability / exclusions

·       Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective / Preventive action as needed.

·       Generates new design ideas to enhance technical and cost competitiveness for the business.

Qualifications

·       A demonstrated track record in electromechanical hardware development, preferably medical devices or other highly regulated products such as military hardware.

·       Ability to generate alternative solutions to problems or processes.

·       Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment

·       Proficient with 2D and 3D modeling software (SolidEdge), with GD&T knowledge.

·       Experience in finite element analysis (FEA) – ANSYS, on structural analysis.

·       Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools will be preferred

·       Experience in using DFSS tools – Stack-up tolerance analysis, DOE, MSA, and failure analysis.

·       Experience with DFMEA and Risk Assessment methods

·       Knowledge on Material – soft goods (textile), metal stamping, injection molding, insert. molding, die casting, extrusion, machining, plating, ultrasonic welding would be preferred

·       Demonstrated experience in accomplishing objectives. Able to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously

Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills

Education & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical engineering with 6 to 10 yrs of work experience in design and development, testing of complex mechanical components/ subsystems/ products.
