Job Summary

As a Software Engineer (Java), you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, high-quality software systems. You will work primarily on Java-based backend services while collaborating closely with frontend, product, and design teams to deliver reliable and meaningful solutions.

• Work hands-on to learn techniques and model good practice, and to remain grounded in the problems faced by team members, in building and shipping high-quality code at a sustainable pace.
• Work with engineers, product owners, and designers.
• Contribute to the growth of our development capability.
• Own and improve the internal quality of our system.

What You Bring To The Team

Backend Development Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles
• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot for building RESTful APIs
• Understanding of microservices architecture and API integration
• Experience with ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate/JPA)
• Good knowledge of database design, SQL, and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Ability to write performant, secure, and maintainable backend code
  
  

Frontend Development Skills

• Strong experience with React and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive UI development
• Experience with frontend state management (e.g., Redux, Context API)
• Familiarity with component-based architecture and reusable UI patterns
• Understanding of frontend performance optimization and accessibility basics
  
  

Testing & Quality Engineering

• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, and/or component testing)
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito, Jest, React Testing Library)
• Understanding of test-driven development (TDD) and continuous testing practices
• Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and refactoring
  
  

DevOps & Tooling

• Experience working in a CI/CD environment
• Familiarity with build and version control tools (e.g., Maven/Gradle, Git)
• Basic understanding of containerization (Docker) is a plus
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred
• Understanding of 12-factor application principles
  
  

Engineering & Ways of Working

• Strong understanding of Agile and Lean principles
• Experience working in cross-functional, collaborative teams
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across the stack
• Understanding of evolutionary design and continuous improvement
• Exposure to Extreme Programming (XP) practices is a bonus
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity is a plus
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of Spring application development
• Proficiency in team leadership
• Experience with Extreme Programming practices and principles
• Experience with evolutionary design
• Working knowledge of cloud architecture and 12-factor applications
• Understanding of continuous improvement
• Experience leveraging AI to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality
• Proficiency working in a CI/CD environment
