About The Team

We are the Product Development team within Customer Service Technology, part of eBay’s Global Technology Organization. Our mission is to build and operate scalable, reliable platforms that power customer service experiences across eBay.

Our engineers work across the stack—developing frontend applications, backend services, APIs, and integrations—using a modern technology ecosystem that includes Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and NoSQL databases. We emphasize scalability, observability, and strong collaboration in a distributed environment, while continuously evolving our systems to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer 3, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing a call center application (ICX platform). You will work on improving existing features, resolving technical challenges, and contributing to new initiatives that elevate customer support experiences.

You will join a growing team and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to build scalable, resilient, and AI-enabled systems.

What You Will Do

• Translate product and business requirements into scalable designs and deliver clean, maintainable code.
• Design, build, test, and deploy full-stack applications, including user interfaces, backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• Develop scalable, resilient systems that power customer self-service experiences across web and internal platforms.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Platform teams to deliver end-to-end solutions aligned with engineering standards.
• Design flexible, reusable systems that accommodate frequent change and improve long-term velocity.
• Improve developer productivity through better tooling, reusable components, and streamlined processes.
• Ensure high-quality, testable, and observable systems using modern engineering and operational practices.
• Participate in design reviews, contribute to architecture decisions, and provide thoughtful code reviews.
• Identify systemic gaps, propose pragmatic solutions, and contribute to the engineering roadmap.
• Support production systems through monitoring, debugging, incident response, and on-call rotation for a 24/7 platform.
  
  
  

What You Will Bring

• 3+ years of software development experience with strong computer science fundamentals.
• Experience building full-stack applications, including frontend, backend services, and API integrations.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience building scalable APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
• Experience designing and integrating distributed systems in high-scale environments.
• Solid understanding of databases and data access patterns, including NoSQL systems.
• Familiarity with Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, Git, testing strategies, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, test automation, code review aids) to improve productivity and code quality.
