Alexa+ is Amazons next-generation personal assistant powered by generative AI – more conversational, smarter, personalized, and built to get things done on any device.

The Alexa 3P Experiences team is on a mission to expand what Alexa+ can do for customers by building consumer-facing experiences with trusted third-party partners like Uber, Ticketmaster, Yelp, and more. Using frontier AI technologies – including Large Language Models (LLMs), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) capabilities – we create agentic experiences that connect customers with an ever-expanding selection of services through natural conversation.

We are hiring a Software Development Manager to build and lead a new engineering team in Bengaluru. This is a founding leadership role - you will recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing team of engineers while driving the technical vision and execution for consumer-facing 3P experiences and category scaling frameworks. You will own the end-to-end delivery of agentic AI experiences that reach hundreds of millions of Alexa customers across 500M+ devices worldwide, working directly with product, design, partner, and platform teams to ship category-defining capabilities at speed.

This role sits at the intersection of people leadership, AI-native systems engineering, and consumer product delivery. Youll establish engineering culture and practices, and drive technical and business outcomes in one of the fastest-moving areas of Alexa+. Alexa+ is scaling rapidly, and the 3P experiences are one of the critical areas. Key job responsibilities

• Building, hiring, and developing a high-performing engineering team focused on 3P agentic experiences and category scaling frameworks
• Defining the hiring bar and interview process for the engineering team, building a balanced team of SDE-1s, SDE-2s, and Senior SDEs who can deliver across the full stack, from LLM orchestration to partner API integrations
• Setting the technical vision for your teams systems, including LLM orchestration, MCP integrations, partner API frameworks, and category scaling SDKs
• Owning end-to-end delivery of consumer-facing 3P experiences — from design through launch and post-launch operational excellence
• Driving engineering best practices across the team: operational excellence, security, quality, and AI-specific practices like agent evaluation and prompt engineering
• Partnering closely with product management, design, and business development to define category strategy and deliver high quality experiences
• Establishing a consistent project management framework and development processes to deliver high-quality software in rapid iterations
• Mentoring and developing engineers at all levels, creating growth opportunities, and raising the technical bar

Alexa 3P Experiences is a dedicated organization within Alexa Domains, purpose-built to rapidly expand the choices and selection of agentic experiences on Alexa+. Building on early launches with marquee partners, our mission is to offer customers choice and expanded selection in Alexas agentic capabilities – positioning Alexa to lead in the next generation of ambient AI interactions. We work closely with cross-functional teams across Alexa for core platform capabilities while owning the end-to-end consumer experience and category innovation.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
