Software Development Engineer III

About the role

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-performance UIs using React.js (Hooks, Functional Components)

• Convert UI/UX designs and wireframes into reusable, scalable, accessible code aligned with Tesco design standards

• Implement and manage state using Redux, Context API, or Zustand

• Optimise applications for performance, speed, Core Web Vitals, and accessibility (WCAG standards)

• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and full responsiveness across device types

• Write unit and integration tests for frontend components (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or Playwright)

• Produce test-driven features and demonstrate deep familiarity with TDD development practices

• Follow best practices of continuous BDD/TDD/Performance/Security/Smoke testing

• Identify patterns in code and refactor towards clean, maintainable, modular architecture with minimal guidance

• Profile and optimise existing UI code; reduce bundle size and improve render performance

• Commit code early and often; demonstrate strong understanding of version control and branching strategies

• Automate testing and build pipelines by default; write secure code by default
