Youll design and build scalable, high-performance systems that power our Address & Checkout services, solving complex technical challenges while directly improving the shopping experience at scale.

Key job responsibilities

• Design and develop full-stack solutions for Address & Checkout services, considering scalability, performance, and reliability across multi-tiered distributed systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and operations to understand customer needs and translate them into technical implementations
• Investigate and optimize system performance, latency, and resource utilization through data-driven analysis and experimentation
• Contribute to code quality and system testability by establishing best practices, conducting thorough code reviews, and identifying areas for improvement
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and participate actively in design and architecture discussions
  
  

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer on our team, youll work on full-stack solutions that handle massive transaction volumes while maintaining lightning-fast response times. Your day might include collaborating with product and design partners to understand customer pain points in the checkout flow, writing and reviewing code for distributed systems that process millions of requests, investigating performance bottlenecks to optimize latency, and participating in design discussions with engineers across our organization. Youll balance building new features with strengthening the foundational systems that keep our services reliable and resilient. Beyond coding, youll contribute to our culture of operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve system quality, testability, and long-term health.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language, or experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
