Job Description
Senior Manager, Engineering – Logi Composer
insightsoftware | Embedded Analytics | Bengaluru, India
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Manager of Engineering to lead the India-based team responsible for Logi Composer, insightsoftwares flagship embedded analytics platform. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader who can build and scale a high-performance team, drive complex product deliveries across geographies, and raise the technical bar on a product used by enterprise customers globally. You will report to the Senior Director of Engineering and work closely with Product Management, DevOps, Customer Success, and global peers.
What Youll Do
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, mentor, and grow a strong India-based engineering team delivering the Logi Composer platform
- Drive recruiting, hiring, performance management, and career development for engineers and engineering managers
- Champion a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence
- Proactively manage attrition risk through engagement and growth opportunities
Product Delivery
- Partner with Product Management and Product Owners to define technical approach, roadmap alignment, and sprint execution within an Agile-Scrum framework
- Ensure timely, high-quality releases — including performance improvements, backward compatibility, and cloud hosting capabilities
- Manage delivery commitments, surface risks early, and communicate status clearly to stakeholders
Technical Strategy
- Drive evolution of tooling, CI/CD pipelines, code quality standards, and development methodology
- Contribute to architectural decisions including microservice design, framework selection, and deployment models for both On-Premise and SaaS environments
- Build and deepen the teams data domain knowledge across the embedded analytics stack
- Foster a culture of innovation — encouraging exploration of emerging technologies and continuous experimentation to keep Composer ahead of market expectations
- Champion adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) and drive integration of AI agents into product features and engineering workflows
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate across Product, DevOps, Support, and Customer-facing teams on execution, escalations, and roadmap dependencies
- Collaborate with the QA/Testing team — independent of this reporting structure — to align on quality standards, test coverage, release readiness, and defect resolution
- Manage vendor relationships and tooling budgets with appropriate business justification
- Provide regular, concise status reporting to senior leadership on delivery health and risks
- Engage with Customer Success and Support teams to understand enterprise customer pain points and feed insights back into the engineering roadmap
Security & Compliance
- Ensure engineering practices adhere to secure coding standards and data privacy requirements relevant to enterprise SaaS products
- Partner with DevOps and Security teams on vulnerability management, penetration testing readiness, and compliance obligations (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR)
Technical Skills
What Were Looking For
- JavaScript/TypeScript — particularly React and Node.js; familiarity with npm, webpack
- Java, REST APIs, microservices architecture, and web application development at scale
- Relational databases and hands-on SQL; exposure to NoSQL (Elasticsearch, MongoDB, etc.) is a plus
- CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, GitHub)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and SaaS deployment patterns
- OOP/SOLID principles, design patterns, data structures, and code testing practices
- Embedded analytics or BI platform experience strongly preferred; data domain concepts (semantic layers, metrics, ETL) highly desirable
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent — with a track record of integrating them into engineering workflows to boost productivity
- Understanding of Agentic AI — ability to design and embed AI agents into product features or development workflows to drive automation and innovation
Leadership & Soft Skills
- 8+ years managing software engineering teams of 15+ engineers
- 2+ years in second-level management (managing engineering managers)
- Proven track record leading geo-distributed teams and cross-region transitions
- Excellent written and verbal communication across all levels — developers to executives
- Strong emotional intelligence and data-driven decision-making with a bias for delivery
- Demonstrated ability to manage through ambiguity — especially during team transitions, product pivots, or organizational change
- Experience driving engineering culture in a remote-first or hybrid distributed team environment
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- 10+ years of web application development in Agile environments
- 8+ years engineering management, including 15+ engineer teams and 2+ years second-level management
- Java 12+ years and ReactJS/microservices 7+ years preferred
Why This Role
- Lead a strategically important embedded analytics product with a growing enterprise customer base
- Shape engineering culture and team capability for a newly transitioned India-based team
- Work within a global engineering organization that values innovation and engineering craft
- Be at the forefront of AI-driven engineering — leveraging agentic workflows and AI tooling to redefine how software is built
- Competitive compensation with a clear growth path to Director-level leadership
