Senior Expert, External Reporting

The Senior Expert, External Reporting is part of the External Reporting Processes Team within Group Reporting, and responsible for preparing the Merck Group’s quarterly and annual reports, as well as the sustainability report and digital financial reporting in accordance with the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF).

This position is intended for experienced professionals with an interest in capital markets reporting at a listed European company.

Your Role

• Be the primary point of contact for significant parts of the quarterly and annual reports.
• Take ownership of the preparation and publication of the Group’s external financial reports, including annual and interim financial statements, the management report and regulatory filings, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and internal reporting standards.
• Interact with a wide range of colleagues within and beyond the finance area.
• Develop a deep understanding of the Group and the requirements for (digital) reporting of a publicly traded company.
  
  

Who You Are

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years of professional experience in auditing or financial reporting at a publicly traded company.
• Experience working in an international non-India headquartered organization with teams located across different countries and regions.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and/or management reporting.
• Strong understanding of the annual financial statement process and external reporting requirements.
• Experience with disclosure management tools, especially Workiva.
• Ability to translate complex problems into actionable steps.
• High initiative, structured and solution-oriented, with the ability to work independently; strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for drafting and reviewing financial and non-financial content.
• Ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Proven collaboration skills with teams and stakeholders across functions, regions, and levels.
• Experience interacting with external auditors.
• Detail-oriented and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
• Ability to coordinate reporting deliverables and manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines simultaneously.
