Senior Engineering Manager - Technology Operational Excellence

Location: Pune/Bangalore 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead a critical portfolio within Technology Operational Excellence. This role is accountable for driving the strategy, roadmap, governance and execution across Recovery Assurance, Technology Risk & Audit, Standards Assurance, Operational Excellence, and the application of automation and AI to strengthen assurance and operational outcomes.

This is not a traditional governance or reporting role. The successful candidate will operate as a strategic leader with end-to-end ownership, defining direction, building high-performing teams and influencing senior stakeholders and platform teams to deliver measurable improvements in resilience, reliability, availability, operational maturity and risk reduction. Success will be measured by the ability to drive accountability, use data to identify improvement opportunities and translate strategy into sustainable outcomes across the technology landscape.

Reporting to the Director, Technology Operational Excellence, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, setting the direction and leading delivery across your area. The Director will provide strategic alignment, guidance and challenge, while you will be accountable for developing the strategy, roadmap and operating model required to deliver the agreed outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

• Define and execute the strategy, roadmap, and operating model for Technology Operational Excellence capabilities.

• Translate organizational objectives into measurable outcomes and improvement initiatives.

• Drive prioritization across resilience, technology risk, audit, standards assurance and Operational Excellence, while working across adjacent capabilities such as Change Management to improve end-to-end operational outcomes.

• Identify emerging operational risks and capability gaps and develop scalable solutions.

• Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior technology leadership.

Recovery Assurance & Resilience

• Lead enterprise recovery assurance and resilience programs.

• Improve recoverability of critical business and technology services by influencing platform teams to do the right testing, validation, and continuous improvement.

• Drive failover, restore, and recovery exercises across cloud, SaaS, on-premise, and vendor-managed environments.

• Ensure recovery risks are identified, tracked, and remediated effectively.

Technology Risk, Audit & Assurance

• Lead technology operational risk management, audit readiness and the sustainable remediation of audit findings.

• Improve assurance through automated controls, evidence-based monitoring and policy enforcement.

• Connect risks, incidents, recovery gaps, standards and control weaknesses to identify systemic issues.

• Partner with the Change Management team to strengthen risk-based controls, use incident and performance insights, and support continual improvement in Change outcomes.

• Contribute to the future evolution of Change Management strategy, governance and control effectiveness as the Technology Operational Excellence operating model develops.

Operational Excellence, Automation & AI

• Drive Operational Excellence initiatives across Technology portfolios.

• Improve operational maturity, engineering standards adoption, and service reliability working with platform teams across tech.

• Leverage Automation, AI, and data-driven insights to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and enhance operational effectiveness.

• Support the transition from governance through reporting to governance through automated controls and intelligence-driven decision making.

People Leadership

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning resilience, risk, audit and operational excellence.

• Build leadership capability, foster accountability, and create a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

• Partner closely with Engineering, Platform, Cyber Security, Internal Audit, and Business stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Significant leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: Technology Operations, Operational Excellence, Resilience, Technology Risk, Audit or Assurance. 

• Proven track record of owning complex portfolios and driving strategy through execution.

• Experience defining operating models, roadmaps, and transformation initiatives.

• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership levels.

• Deep understanding of operational resilience, risk management, technology controls, and modern engineering practices.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Preferred Experience

• Disaster Recovery, Recovery Assurance, or Enterprise Resilience leadership.

• Technology Risk, Audit, and Control Frameworks.

• SRE, Reliability Engineering, Observability, and Operational Readiness practices.

• Automated controls, policy-as-code, and evidence-based assurance.

• AI and Automation-led operational transformation.

• Experience across cloud, SaaS, on-premises, and hybrid technology environments.
