What you will do
The SAP Basis Principal Consultant is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, configuration, administration, and optimization of SAP technical landscapes. The role involves providing deep technical expertise, guiding junior consultants, ensuring system stability, and driving high-quality delivery across SAP environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Operations
Manage SAP system installations, upgrades, migrations, and patches (ABAP, Java, HANA, S/4HANA, Solution Manager).
Perform system copies, refreshes, backups, and restore operations.
Ensure high availability, performance tuning, and regular health checks of SAP systems.
Technical Leadership
Serve as the SME for SAP Basis and lead complex technical activities.
Mentor and guide Basis consultants and support teams.
Provide technical governance, best practices, and process improvements.
Security & User Management
Manage SAP authorizations, roles, and user administration.
Coordinate with Security teams for compliance and audit readiness.
Implement and monitor SAP Router, SSL/TLS, SSO, and other security components.
System Monitoring & Performance
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system parameters.
Manage background jobs, transports, and workflow administration.
Ensure smooth operation of interfaces, integrations, and batch processing.
Infrastructure & Cloud
Work with infrastructure teams on OS, DB, network, and storage requirements.
Manage SAP on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including sizing and deployment.
Oversee HANA database operations, backups, and performance tuning.
Project Delivery
Lead technical streams in SAP migration, upgrade, and implementation projects.
Prepare technical design documents and system architecture plans.
Coordinate with functional teams, project managers, and business stakeholders.
Incident & Problem Management
Handle L3/L4 critical issues and root-cause analysis.
Ensure SLA adherence and continuous improvement.
What we are looking for
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in SAP Basis administration (ABAP + Java stacks).
Hands-on experience with:
SAP S/4HANA and HANA DB administration
SAP Solution Manager (ChaRM, Monitoring, Wily/Introscope)
SAP Fiori, GRC, BW/BI systems
Transport Management System (TMS)
SAP in cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
Strong understanding of databases: HANA, Oracle, MSSQL, DB2.
