We are seeking a passionate Robotics Software Intern to join our Robotics Software team and contribute to the development of tools and interfaces that power Botsyncs Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) stack. You will work on web and desktop applications that support robot visualization, calibration, mapping, testing, and deployment while collaborating with experienced robotics engineers on real-world industrial automation solutions.
What Does Success Look Like for This Role
3 Months
Onboarded onto the AMR stack, rosbridge integration, and the C++/Qt map editor codebase.
Shipped a first small feature on either the web visualization UI or the Qt desktop tool.
Comfortable running the calibration or Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) wizards end-to-end and interpreting the results.
6 Months
Owns and ships a significant feature such as a 3D visualization module, a calibration wizard, or a geometry alignment tool.
Contributing GitHub Actions improvements that speed up or stabilize the C++/Qt cross-platform builds.
Trusted to debug UI and robotics integration issues (rosbridge, WebSockets, sensor streams) with minimal escalation.
12 Months
Driving design decisions on core deployment tooling UI/UX and desktop tools architecture.
Tools developed are in daily use by Deployment and QA teams supporting live AMR fleets.
Recognized as a go-to contributor in at least one of the following areas: web visualization, Qt/C++ tooling, or CI/CD.
The key responsibilities include:
Build web and desktop interfaces that connect directly with Botsyncs AMR stack for visualization, calibration, and testing.
Implement 2D/3D geometry tooling in C++/Qt to align point clouds with occupancy maps and maintain the desktop map editor.
Build interactive 3D visualizations of the robots physical structure (URDF) in the browser using WebGL/Three.js.
Integrate and visualize real-time sensor streams, including 2D LiDAR scans, camera feeds, battery telemetry, and live system logs.
Develop guided UI wizards for on-robot sensor calibration and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) workflows.
Implement geometry calculations including rotations, translations, scale offsets, and cropping to align 3D Point Clouds (PCD) with 2D occupancy grid maps.
Enhance and maintain the desktop map editor using C++ and Qt for low-latency, cross-platform spatial editing.
Maintain and optimize GitHub Actions workflows to automatically compile, test, and package C++/Qt tools for Ubuntu, macOS, and Windows.
Research and prototype high-performance 3D streaming pipelines for rendering large-scale spatial mapping datasets using WebGL or WebGPU.
Assist in migrating the desktop editor from CPU-bound canvas rendering to a hardware-accelerated OpenGL/Qt Quick 3D rendering engine.
Design APIs to synchronize locally generated maps, calibration records, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) reports with the cloud-based Fleet Management platform.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
0-1 years of experience.
Eligible candidates: 2025–2026 BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech graduates.
Proficiency in C++ with experience using CMake and desktop GUI frameworks (preferably Qt).
Strong foundation in frontend web development using React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Good understanding of coordinate geometry and 2D/3D transformations, including quaternions, rotation matrices, and translation vectors.
Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu) environments.
Experience using Git and GitHub version control.
Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2.
Experience working with 3D data formats such as PCD, STL, and OBJ, or graphics libraries including WebGL, OpenGL, or Three.js.
Exposure to OpenCV or Point Cloud Library (PCL).
Familiarity with writing multi-platform GitHub Actions workflows.
