The Process Plan engineer develops the repair operation plan against the non-conformance regarding defects arising during the manufacturing and Assembly process and as compared to the product definition requirements.
Their role is to evaluate and build process plan instructions in Solumina (MES) against the repair schemes for the operators at the shop floor to ensure all the repair procedures are accomplished successfully and meet the safety, regulatory and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to read and understand blueprints of complex aero engines parts.
Perform engineering analysis of discrepant parts which includes Forgings / Castings / Precision machined aero-engine components and Assemblies, etc.
Responsible for investigation of all non-conformance reports and all responses using proven problem-solving methodology to complete the non-conformance design assessment and disposition
Analyze repair requirements to create the Process Plan and plan the details of facility / machines / consumables required to perform the repairs
Analyze the cost of facility/machines/consumables
Good understanding of manufacturing and inspection tools and processes used in the overhaul and repair industry, such as heat treat, thermal spray, glass bead & shot peening, arc welding, Wide Gap brazing, machining, CMM, Torquing, balancing etc.
Well versed in Engine Manual and Repair Schemes, Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins.
Knowledge of GD&T, tool/fixture design and applications in MRO.
Presentations and customer report generation and delivery
Work closely with the production floor, support process improvements, and incorporate best practices and productivity improvement into daily operations.
Coordinate across a large number of functional areas, including manufacturing engineers in resolution of technical and operational challenges or concerns raised regarding Process Plans, and ensure follow through till approval is obtained, and Process plan is approved and loaded into MES for shop operations usage.

Work Experience
Required Skills (Technical competency)
In-depth knowledge of gas turbine engines, engine components and their functions during engine operation (Experience in Rolls-Royce aero engines will be an added advantage)
In-depth knowledge of working of various engine systems
Knowledge of various inspection methods including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques
Good understanding of various types of repairs which can be applied in aero engine repair process (Rolls-Royce - Civil Lage Engine is preferred)
Good grasp of manufacturing process controls, material specification, inspection standards, and statistical process controls
Experience working with Operations/Process documents, procedures, and records required
Good proficiency in high-end manufacturing equipment and processes (i.e., castings, metal cutting, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding, sheet metal/composite forming and joining, metal tube bending, castings, metal cutting, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding)
Good understanding of Special Processes
Thorough understanding of the materials used and the associated manufacturing processes
Should have experience in interpretation & application of GD & T, Limits, Fits and Tolerances of parts
Experience in non-conformance disposition will be an added advantage
Should have a liking to work with multi-functional / multi-regional team
Experience with customer/supplier interaction preferred
Proficiency of the MES tool – Solumina
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Able to work in a fast-paced, learning environment to meet quick TAT
