Purpose of the Role

Job Summary:-

HV Battery Prototype Build will be responsible for leading the development and assembly of high-voltage battery pack prototypes, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical subsystems. The role requires strong hands-on experience in prototype builds, design interpretation, cross-functional coordination, and ensuring safety and quality during all build activities.

Key Responsibility Areas

Technical Execution & Assembly

End-to-End Build Leadership: Taking a High Voltage (HV) battery from a digital concept to a physical prototype. This involves integrating the housing, thermal management (cooling plates/hoses), and electrical subsystems (BMS, busbars, and wiring harnesses).

Hands-on High Voltage Experience: Direct experience with DC voltages up to 750V. This requires a deep understanding of electrical safety, insulation coordination, and component functionality.

Manufacturing Processes: Strong proficiency in welding (likely laser or ultrasonic for cells/busbars) and material selection to ensure structural integrity and thermal efficiency.

Schematic Mastery: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings (2D/3D).

Design for Excellence (DFX): Applying "Design For" methodologies to ensure the battery isnt just functional, but also buildable and reliable:

DFM/DFA: Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.

DFMEA: Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.

DFS: Design for Serviceability.

GD&T: Using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to ensure components fit together perfectly during the assembly process.

Infrastructure Management: Setting up the physical prototype shop, including the selection of precision tools, diagnostic instruments, and safety equipment.

Timeline Execution: Using agile tools like ClickUp to track milestones and ensure the physical build stays on pace with the broader vehicle development program.

Supply Chain Coordination: Acting as the bridge between internal designers and external suppliers to source prototype-grade components quickly.

• Problem Solving & Quality Control
  
  

Issue Resolution: Identifying "build-stoppers" (parts that dont fit or fail testing) and using structured methodologies (like 8D or 5-Whys) to find root causes.

Validation: Understanding the mechanical and electrical stress tests a battery must undergo to be certified for road use.

Documentation: Drafting the "source of truth" for the production floor, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.

Safety Stewardship: Managing the high risks associated with HV lithium-ion batteries, including thermal runaway prevention and proper PPE usage.

Team Mentorship: Training technicians on technical nuances and managing daily manpower to meet build targets.
