Join our dynamic team in Bengaluru as a Project Leader in the Research and Development department within the Corporate Units of Epiroc. This pivotal technical role offers an engaging opportunity to spearhead advanced simulation-driven projects focused on thermal and powertrain system development for Underground Mining Equipment, including Loaders and Trucks.

About The Role

As a Project Leader, you will be responsible for leading the full vehicle powertrain and thermal system integration across Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), hybrid, and Electric Vehicle (EV) platforms. Your expertise will drive the development and maintenance of system-level simulation models utilizing state-of-the-art tools such as GT-SUITE and MATLAB/Simulink. You will perform multi-physics simulations spanning hydraulics, powertrain dynamics, and thermal networks at various fidelity levels to ensure precision and robustness of designs.

In addition, you will integrate AI and Machine Learning models to enhance simulation speed and support the creation of digital twins, thereby innovating how we analyze and predict system behaviors. Supporting the development and validation of thermal and powertrain control strategies will be essential to optimizing performance and energy management.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Performing theoretical calculations to define vehicle performance requirements for powertrain and hydraulic components.
• Leading powertrain system design and integration activities, including the selection and coordination of key components such as engines, transmissions, shafts, axles, and tyres.
• Driving value addition through continuous improvement suggestions and ensuring project deliverables meet the highest quality standards within set timelines.
• Reporting progress and technical outcomes to the Team Manager efficiently and accurately.
• Adhering to company policies, values, and the business code of practice, promoting a culture of integrity and excellence.
  
  

Critical Competences and Skills

The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience with GTsuite and MATLAB simulation activities, combined with a solid understanding of diesel powertrain designs as well as electric vehicle technologies. A comprehensive knowledge of thermal system management and data analytics proficiency are essential for interpreting complex simulation outputs and driving informed decision-making.

Familiarity with troubleshooting and testing procedures, vehicle mechanics, integration, and basic project management skills are required to ensure smooth project execution and coordination among cross-functional teams.
