Position: Project Lead – Oil & Gas Engineering

Experience: 10+ Years

Industry: Oil & Gas / Energy / Petrochemical / Process Industries

Team Size: ~15 Engineers

Location: Bangalore

Role Overview

The Project Lead is responsible for independent, end‑to‑end delivery of engineering projects/engagements within Oil & Gas and related industries. The role combines strong technical leadership, delivery excellence, and customer engagement, with accountability for scope, schedule, quality, and team performance.

Work Experience

Key Responsibilities

Project & Delivery Management

  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of assigned engagements within defined scope, timeline, cost, and quality standards.
  • Own day‑to‑day delivery, including task planning, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure On‑Time Delivery (OTD) and First Pass Yield (FPY) targets.
  • Track delivery performance and proactively identify and mitigate risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies.
  • Ensure compliance with QuEST Project Management System and internal governance processes.
  • Drive delivery excellence and continual improvement initiatives.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Plot Plans, P&IDs
    • 3D Modeling & Detailing
    • HAC drawings
    • Piping and Instrumentation Engineering
  • Experience with Oil & Gas facilities such as refineries, gas processing plants, offshore/onshore installations.
  • Exposure to common 3D tools (e.g., PDMS/E3D, Smart 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D).
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary interface with Customers, Technical Leaders, and QuEST Leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong Customer Technical Lead relationships.
  • Drive customer technical meetings and governance forums.
  • Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly customer connects/reviews.
  • Manage and align expectations across business and technical stakeholders.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and manage a team of ~15 engineers and designers across onshore and offshore locations.
  • Drive daily stand‑ups and regular team connects to monitor efficiency and delivery health.
  • Mentor and guide team members to build strong delivery and technical capability.
  • Identify capability gaps and implement improvement actions through training, coaching, or hiring.
  • Support training and development programs and handle internal conflict resolution effectively.

Standards & Process Improvement

  • Develop, update, and enhance engineering standards, procedures, and checklists based on customer and project needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Behavioral Skills

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams of 10–20 resources.
  • Strong ownership mindset with ability to manage multiple engagements independently.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Customer‑centric approach with high accountability and execution focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Instrumentation or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas or process industries.
  • Prior experience as Project Lead, Lead Engineer, or Delivery Lead preferred.
