About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Consultant – Geochemist/Hydrogeochemist to join our India GCC team. This role focuses on delivering geochemical expertise for mine water projects, supporting permitting, baseline studies, operational management, and closure planning. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and global clients to provide practical solutions for geochemical water-rock interaction challenges, including metal leaching and acid rock drainage.

Responsibilities

Technical delivery: Provide geochemical expertise on mining projects, including water quality prediction, prevention, and management strategies.

  • Project support: Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, project execution, and reporting, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Collaboration: Work with geochemists, engineers, and environmental scientists across GCC and international teams.
  • Client engagement: Support relationship management, liaise with clients, and contribute to business development activities.
  • Mentorship: Guide junior staff in technical skills, project delivery, and professional growth.
  • Business development: Assist in preparing bids, proposals, and marketing materials, and represent WSP at industry events.
  • Health and safety: Promote WSP’s safety culture and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Global collaboration: Support international projects by leveraging GCC capabilities, ensuring seamless integration with global teams.


Software Competency

  • Geochemical modelling tools: Proficiency in PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench (GWB), MINTEQ, or equivalent.
  • Hydrogeological modelling: Experience with MODFLOW, FEFLOW, or similar groundwater modelling software.
  • Data analysis: Strong skills in MS Excel, R, Python, or MATLAB for geochemical data interpretation.
  • GIS tools: Competency in ArcGIS or QGIS for spatial analysis and mapping.
  • Collaboration platforms: Familiarity with MS Teams, SharePoint, and project management tools for global coordination.


Qualifications

Experience: Substantial background in mine water geochemistry, with proven project delivery experience.

  • Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of geochemical modelling, water-rock interaction, and international best practice guidelines.
  • Education: Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in geochemistry, hydrogeochemistry, applied or environmental geology/chemistry.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal English; French or Spanish is an asset.
  • Professional development: Professional registration or working towards it, with commitment to continuous learning.
  • Innovation: Passion for problem-solving and applying innovative approaches to complex geochemical challenges.
