As part of the Global Merchant & Network Services group (GMNS) the GMNS Product team is at the core of American Express, uniquely positioned to service every business unit and customer across the Enterprise. Each year, we power billions of transactions through our global payments network, serving our Issuing and Acquiring businesses in more than 170 markets worldwide. We are driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to modernize our Acquirer solutions to build innovative products, services, and capabilities that will anticipate our merchant and acquiring partner’s needs. This is a strategic priority for GMNS as it becomes increasingly important that we stay competitive with the rise of intermediaries, can quickly adapt to an ever-changing regulatory environment and are developing strong value-added services that deepen the relationships with our acquiring customers.

Reporting to the Director of Acquirer Platform Transformation, this role will be responsible for driving the day-to-day execution of the Acquiring modernization strategy and product roadmap . You will play a critical role in translating strategy into action—ensuring we are delivering high-impact product capabilities while continuously incorporating customer insights, market intelligence, and competitive dynamics into our approach.

Responsibilities

As a key member of this team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Own roadmap execution: Drive the end-to-end execution of the Acquiring product roadmap, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of prioritized features and capabilities.
  • Translate strategy into action: Operationalize the broader Acquirer modernization strategy into clear product priorities, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Champion the voice of the customer: Incorporate feedback from merchants, partners, and internal stakeholders to shape product decisions, improve user journeys, and eliminate friction.
  • Leverage market and industry insights: Continuously assess competitive trends, regulatory changes, and emerging industry dynamics to inform product direction and identify new opportunities.
  • Drive go-to-market strategy and execution: Partner cross-functionally to define positioning, rollout plans, and adoption strategies for new capabilities, ensuring successful launches and measurable impact.
  • Define success and measure outcomes: Establish clear KPIs (e.g., adoption, revenue impact, cost efficiency, customer satisfaction) and use data to inform decisions and iterate post-launch.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with engineering, delivery, design, and business stakeholders to align on priorities, manage dependencies, and ensure seamless execution.
  • Lead discovery and prioritization: Conduct ongoing discovery to identify opportunities, define requirements, and maintain a well-prioritized backlog aligned to business goals

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Product management experience: 3+ years of experience in product management or product development, with exposure to end-to-end product lifecycle management. Experience in payments or acquiring is strongly preferred.
  • Execution-focused mindset: Proven ability to drive delivery in complex, matrixed environments, balancing multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Customer-centric thinker: Demonstrated ability to incorporate customer insights into product decisions and improve end-to-end experiences.
  • Market-informed decision maker: Ability to synthesize industry trends, competitive dynamics, and data into actionable product strategies.
  • Go-to-market experience: Experience supporting or leading product launches, including positioning, rollout planning, and performance tracking.
  • Analytical and data-driven: Strong ability to define metrics, analyze performance, and make informed tradeoffs.
  • Strong communicator: Ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborative and adaptable: Comfortable working across global teams and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong project management aptitude, preferably including understanding of Agile methodology and practices.
  • Strong aptitude for balancing multiple deliverables simultaneously, using effective prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Flexibility and readiness to work within a global team.
