As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Wholesale Credit Risk Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

Provides guidance and manages a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities to deliver high quality software
Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, Product Owners and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution
Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
Leads team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC/TLM automation to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes, while setting expectations for human validation, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and consistent use of reusable patterns across teams.
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation and support capacity unlock initiatives.
Primarily, design and implement secure and robust REST APIs using technologies such as Java Spring Boot and Spring MVC for cloud native micro-service applications
Demonstrates overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
Participate in code reviews

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 14+ years applied experience.
Experience leading technology projects working as a hands-on (actively coding) Application
Development Lead or related role.
Hands-on experience using AI tools and drives the development with AI First mindset
Experience leading responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools across engineering teams, including defining ways of working (review/validation expectations), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of data.
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and governance expectations; ability to coach engineers on compliant and effective usage.
Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists
Experience with using Cloud computing, micro services, Containers/Dockers/Kubernetes, Kafka in a highly distributed environment
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
Ability to understand UI technologies such as JavaScript / React and experience in building enterprise applications
Proficient in automation, continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
Extensive knowledge and experience working in an Agile environment.
Passionate about learning emerging technologies

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
Hands on experience with writing functional and regression automated tests to be run as part of the build pipeline.
Experience working and collaborating with global teams across multiple time zones
