As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Consumer and Community Banking Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS
  • Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Kubernetes (EKS) and ECS. 
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and system
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration management. 
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.

  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.

  • Implement logging and tracing using ELK Stack, Splunk, Dynatrace, and AWS CloudWatch.  
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of applications. 
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline the software development lifecycle. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in a timely manner. 
  • Continuously evaluate and implement modern technologies and tools to improve operational efficiency. 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related field. 
  • Experience in Java language, Springboot framework or scripting languages such as Bash, Shell, Python 
  • Strong expertise in AWS services including EC2, S3, EKS, ECS Fargate, VPC, IAM, and networking and Atlas 2.0
  • Proven track record of building and managing continual automation / deployment / delivery environments

  • Proficiency in using Terraform for infrastructure as code. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices

  • Ensure disaster recovery strategies are in place using multi-region deployments, backups, and failover mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and ECS for container orchestration
  • Proven track record designing and implementing comprehensive observability solutions (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting) and automating complex CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, Spinnaker, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with any rule engines such as IBM ODM
  • Worked with IBM ODM deployment and Containerization
  • Familiarity with AI and Copilot concepts
