About Technology Development

The TD team for ISEA is focused on Customer Product development & Engineering, Innovation for the region, rollout of new technologies for the region, testing, Failure Investigation, scaleup from POC to series production, Portfolio Management etc.

• Product Development & Engineering – This division brings out conceptual/detailed designs to support BOH/ETO activities based on customer specifications. Technology trends like digitization of workflows, e- Aviation, Sensorization, Product localization, Design automation, Agile, DFX and Model based designs, (MBDs) have increased the operational efficiency and application productivity. What our customer gain from this is efficient digital data exchange, traceability and flexibility in design changes, reduced carbon footprint and higher performance products.
• Testing : Group Testing Services is a trusted partner in design, process and supplier validation. The testing team ensures greater focus on customer requirements, quality and operational efficiency. This entails greater support for SKF’s processes in a faster manner by applying global test standards, adapted to local customer specific requirements.
• Global Metallurgy & Chemistry Laboratory (GMC)
• Future Factory (Manufacturing 4.0) – Working on World class manufacturing – Lean, Green, Digital.
• Manufacturing Process & Development - We support factories in the areas of process development (Heat treatment), machine building, Advanced Manufacturing – HT simulations, Additive Manufacturing, Vision Inspection etc. We are working on building innovative solutions on machines (measurement/ assembly/ clean manufacturing) and focusing on Scaling technologies like 3D printing and Camera based Inspection system with automation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Product Development Engineer

Reports To : Global Product Development Manager - (TRB) & (RBU)

Role Type : Individual Contribution

Location : Bangalore

Role Purpose:

Product Development Roller Bearing Units and Accessories have Global development responsibility regarding the product portfolio.

We need You to strengthen our future product portfolio related to housing and Accessories.

You have the attitude and drive needed to achieve results. Your eagerness to learn and apply your knowledge enables you to be a key player in many activities and projects, both locally and globally initiated. You are curious about interfaces in the full value chain workflows to better understand, your role, and how to optimize processes.

You take the opportunity to make a real impact by understanding the internal and external customers.

Our main Stakeholders are Product Line Management, all product line related Factories globally, Sales & Application Engineering, Research and Technology Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Purchasing.

Our “no-boundary” mindset to collaboration with the teams in Sweden, Germany, India and China are also of key importance for our team performance as well as growing the Engineering capabilities in the future SKF.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive activities within the digitalization area to develop our future modular design processes, which enables increased speed and quality assurance in design work while making our offers more transparent to the organization.
• Set up and conduct simulations to verify new designs and analyze tolerance settings.
• Develop, document and implement new design rules, to ensure cost efficiency while understanding the connection to product performance.
• Participate in and drive Product Development Projects ranging from Catalogue to Application / Customer Specific Offers.
• Plan, drive and report design requests and engineering tasks both locally and globally initiated.
• Drive investigations related to Engineering Changes to support risk assessment and decision making.
  
  

Skills Requirements:

• Master/ bachelor’s degree in the Mechanical Engineering field
• Broad technical understanding and interest in machine elements design, casting knowledge and process
• Good communication skills and proficient in English
• Structured approach to problem solving, leading, and reporting progress.
• Skilled in product development techniques DFSS, DFMEA, DVVP etc..
• Additional knowledge and expertise on casting will be added advantage
  
  

Beneficial Skills:

• Experience in conducting simulations/testing and connect analysis to product performance and design rules.
• 3D modeling experience (PTC CREO preferred, but not mandatory)
• Previous experiences from working in fields like Research and Development/or Application Engineering /or Bearing Development/or Manufacturing is beneficial, but not mandatory.
• Material and Heat Treatment expertise
  
  

Candidate Profile:

• 5-10 years, in Product development role with OEM’s
• Master/ bachelor’s degree in the Mechanical Engineering field
• Industrial experience such as bearings, drives, new product development in heavy industry – cement, mining and etc...
