Head Of Engineering

Location : Mumbai / Bangalore

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the technical execution of TIST Media’s platform as we scale our influencer marketing and AI - driven marketplace product. This is a hands - on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of architecture, people management, and delivery.

You will be responsible for translating product and business vision into reliable, scalable engineering systems, while building a strong, motivated engineering team that ships with quality and speed.

Key Responsibilities :

Own Engineering Execution

• Lead the end - to - end engineering function : architecture decisions, development, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ensure our platform is scalable, secure, and production - ready as usage and complexity grow.

Building & Leading the Engineering Team

• Hire, mentor, and manage engineers across backend, frontend, AI / data, and infrastructure.
• Establish strong engineering rituals : code reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical documentation.
• Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Translate Vision into Systems

• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Media Leadership to convert product vision into clear technical roadmaps.
• Balance speed vs. quality while making pragmatic trade - offs suitable for a fast - moving startup.

Architect for Scale

• Own system architecture decisions with a long - term mindset.
• Ensure the platform can handle growth in users and data volume without compromising performance.

Operational Excellence

• Set engineering best practices for CI / CD ( Continuous Integration and Continuous
• Delivery ), testing, monitoring, and incident response.
• Oversee infrastructure reliability, security, and cost efficiency.

AI & Data Enablement

• Work closely with AI / data teams to integrate analytics and intelligence into core workflows.
• Ensure AI systems are production - grade, explainable where needed, and aligned with product outcomes.

Stakeholder Communication

• Clearly communicate technical decisions, risks, and timelines to non - technical stakeholders.
• Act as the bridge between engineering realities, design, and business expectations.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in well - structured startups or scale - ups, ideally in SaaS, marketplaces, or platform products.
• Strong hands - on background in backend systems, scalable architectures, and modern web stacks.
• Experience working with AI / ML systems, data pipelines, or analytics - driven products.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building systems from early - stage foundations.

• Excellent communicator who can align engineers, product, and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2 – 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Startup experience is strongly preferred.
