Job Description

Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

Position Summary: The Database Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of databases in an organization. The DBA ensures the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of databases used by business applications.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or others.

Monitor database performance and tune as needed for performance improvements.

Set up and maintain database security and user access.

Develop, implement, and test backup and recovery plans.

Ensure data integrity and consistency across environments.

Troubleshoot and resolve database issues (e.g., locking, connection, data corruption).

Automate recurring tasks through scripts and tools.

Support software developers with database design and query optimization.

Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Maintain documentation of database architecture, processes, and best practices.

Stay up to date with new database technologies and industry trends.

Required Skills And Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven experience as a DBA or in a related role.

Strong knowledge of database structure, theory, and best practices.

Proficiency with DBMSs such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

Experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO).

Understanding of data security, compliance, and backup/recovery strat
