Role Overview

We are looking for an HAC Engineer to support engineering projects by creating and reviewing hazardous area classification drawings and ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

In this role, you will work on defining hazardous areas, preparing layouts, and supporting technical accuracy across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create new HAC drawings for oil and gas plants with reference to API 500 standards
  • Define boundaries of hazardous areas based on process equipment and material properties
  • Assign appropriate classification and division for identified areas
  • Prepare and review HAC layout drawings showing zones, groups, and temperature classes
  • Review facility modifications to ensure new equipment does not impact safe areas or access paths
  • Provide technical oversight, mentoring, clarifications, and issue resolution
  • Create checklists and guidance documents for workflow execution
  • Capture lessons learned and conduct or support training sessions as needed
  • Support root cause analysis for improvement opportunities and provide action plans
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Identify and document ambiguities in a structured way and communicate them to stakeholders
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical input where required

Work Experience

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-6 years of experience in AutoCAD 2D drafting (SLD, HAC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with applicable national and international codes (API, ASME, ASTM, EURO, CSA, AS, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse teams
  • Adaptability to new tools and technologies
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or similar role
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
