We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Global Banking Services Director. The department (GBS) operates as a globally integrated function across Glasgow, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Mumbai. The team is responsible for the end to end governance of custody and clearing bank accounts held with external agent banks, including the creation and ongoing review of key regulatory documentation across all Morgan Stanley legal entities and markets. Such scope provides a dynamic, ever-changing backdrop for an exciting role involving collaboration across multiple Business Units and Operations teams.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Supervisor position at Director level within the Core Services.

What Youll Do In The Role

  • Oversee and manage the complete account opening and closing lifecycle across all international markets, ensuring seamless execution and compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including PB/IPB, Legal, Global Network Management, Compliance, and various business units, to fulfil registration and account opening requirements.
  • Any previous experience in KYC onboarding or bank account opening, closing, and maintenance roles is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards relating to registration, account opening, and closure processes (such as KYC and AML).
  • Monitor agent bank performance to ensure adherence to agreed service level agreements for client registrations.
  • Escalate issues promptly and accurately to keep senior leadership, stakeholders informed of progress and any potential delays.
  • Identify and implement innovative process improvements to streamline registration procedures and reduce completion times.
  • Lead high-priority projects related to account openings and closures, ensuring delivery of key objectives.
  • Promote and sustain a LEAN culture within the team, proactively seeking operational efficiencies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts for internal legal entities to ensure consistency with external agent bank records.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of global markets, account opening protocols, and pre-investment requirements.
  • Conduct annual reviews and updates of desktop and supervisory procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Produce and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports and performance metrics as required.
  • Provide support to the leadership team when needed, assisting with strategic tasks and initiatives.
  • Undertake supervisory duties including review, sign-off, and approvals, ensuring robust governance.
  • Lead risk mitigation initiatives, strengthen internal controls, and drive process improvements across operations.
  • Supervise a team of 3-5 members, providing guidance, coaching, and support to foster professional development.

  • Hands on experience in Microsoft Power tools, Power BI, Alteryx, and UI Path is highly advantageous.
