Engineering Manager

Our client is a growth stage consumer tech startup based out of Bangalore. They are scaling one of India's fastest-growing platforms, is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a backend team.

This role is for a builder at heart who's spent years deep in backend systems, has recently stepped into (or is on the cusp of) people leadership, and understands that great engineering in a consumer business is inseparable from great business outcomes.

What you'll do

• Own the health, output, and growth of a backend engineering team from architecture decisions to delivery rigor
• Partner closely with product and business stakeholders to translate business goals into technical roadmaps
• Mentor and grow engineers, while staying hands-on enough to unblock hard technical problems
• Drive engineering best practices around scalability, reliability, and code quality for high-traffic consumer systems
• Balance speed and craft by shipping fast without compromising on the fundamentals

What we're looking for

• Strong backend engineering background with a solid understanding of how technical decisions impact business metrics
• 1–2 years of team management experience as an SDE3/Team Lead or an early-stage Engineering Manager
• Prior experience in Consumer Tech is a must
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
• Based in or willing to relocate to Bangalore
