Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. The Engineering Architect Team

The Architecture team is a small group of very senior engineers reporting to our VP of Engineering Excellence, working broadly across the organization in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Security. We partner deeply with other Engineering teams for large projects, and provide direction and architectural guidance for smaller initiatives. We have a dual-pronged charter to "level up the tech stack and level up the people stack" via both technical contributions and partnerships and mentoring.

The Role

Auth0 is a developer product at its core — and increasingly, the developers building with us arent just humans. AI agents are now a first-class consumer of our SDKs, APIs, and documentation.

This role owns the architectural vision for how Auth0 is experienced across three dimensions: DX (Developer Experience — how human developers build with Auth0), UX (User Experience — how users experience Auth0 products), and AX (Agentic Experience — how AI agents interact with and build on Auth0). 

Youll work across our SDK ecosystem, public APIs, documentation, and product surfaces to ensure that every touchpoint is consistent, delightful, and easy to build on — whether the builder is a human or an agent.

Youll also contribute directly to how we build internally: creating the skills, guardrails, and patterns that our own in-house agents use, ensuring that agent-assisted development at Auth0 produces the same high-quality, consistent output as human-led development.

What youll be doing

• Define and drive the architectural vision for DX, UX, and AX across Auth0s public products, SDKs, and APIs
• Identify and address inconsistencies across Auth0s product surfaces, establishing patterns and standards that make the experience feel unified and intentional
• Architect and contribute to the SDK and API design layer, ensuring our developer-facing interfaces are ergonomic, consistent, and built for both human and agent consumers
• Design and build agent skills, guardrails, and contextual tooling (MCP servers, SKILL.md, llms.txt, structured documentation) that enable agents to build correctly with Auth0 
• Embed within Engineering teams for large initiatives, providing architectural guidance and lighter-touch direction for smaller efforts
• Partner closely with the Design team as a key stakeholder, ensuring engineering implementation reflects and reinforces the products UX direction
• Contribute to Auth0s Developer Experience Principles in practice — not just as guidance, but through hands-on implementation that raises the bar 
• Lead by doing: reviewing, prototyping, and contributing code across SDKs, tooling, and documentation systems
• Participate in our Engineering Leadership Team with other architects, directors, and executives
• Mentor and uplevel engineers across the organization on experience-focused architecture

What youll bring to the role

• Experience : 15 to 20 year .
• Deep experience designing developer-facing products: SDKs, APIs, CLIs, documentation systems, or developer portals
• A strong point of view on what great DX looks like — and the ability to identify, articulate, and fix where it falls short
• Familiarity with the emerging AX space: agent-readable documentation formats, MCP servers, agent skills, and how AI agents consume APIs and tooling auth0.com
• Knowledge of Identity protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, and SAML, and how they surface in developer-facing products
• Experience working across multiple product surfaces to drive consistency — youve seen what fragmentation looks like and know how to fix it
• Hands-on coding ability: this is not a purely advisory role; youll be expected to build, prototype, and contribute directly
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence engineers, product managers, and designers
• Ability to drive technical decisions to conclusion while balancing quality, velocity, and pragmatism
• Excellence at creating clarity and alignment across teams without direct authority

Extra credit:

• Experience contributing to or maintaining open source SDKs or libraries
• Familiarity with structured content and documentation systems designed for LLM consumption (llms.txt, OpenAPI, structured changelogs)
• Experience with frontend or full-stack development, particularly in the context of developer tooling or product surfaces like Universal Login
