We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer with strong expertise in Ada 95/Ada 2012, Embedded C, low-level driver development, and real-time embedded systems. The role involves developing safety-critical embedded software for processor-based systems, working from higher-level requirements through detailed design, coding, integration, testing, optimization, and lifecycle documentation.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with MPC5777C Power Architecture and MC68332 processors, communication protocols such as MIL-STD-1553B, RS-422, and RS-232, and development processes aligned with DO-178B safety-critical software practices.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Low-Level Requirements (LLRs), design strategies, and pseudocode from higher-level requirements.
Identify requirement inconsistencies, ambiguities, and dependencies before development activities proceed.
Develop embedded software using Ada 95/Ada 2012 and Embedded C in accordance with approved design and coding standards.
Follow established software configuration-management and change-control processes.
Develop and integrate low-level interface modules for discrete and analog inputs, discrete outputs, frequency inputs, processor memory, timers, interrupts, and flashing.
Implement communication interfaces and protocol handling for MIL-STD-1553B, RS-422, and RS-232.
Implement data packing and unpacking according to MIL-STD-1553B requirements.
Process data using algorithms and technical specifications provided by system or higher-level engineering teams.
Develop software for reading and writing RAM, NVRAM, DPRAM, and RTRAM memory devices.
Perform processor configuration and implement reliable inter-processor communication mechanisms.
Develop and maintain low-level drivers and hardware interface modules for embedded systems.
Measure execution time and optimize real-time software modules before configuration submission.
Conduct peer reviews and complete required review checklists before milestone submission.
Ensure code complies with established coding standards and quality requirements.
Perform impact analysis and maintain appropriate code-change and build documentation.
Investigate, isolate, and resolve software defects within defined development milestones.
Incorporate review feedback and ensure corrective actions are completed before subsequent milestones.
Prepare and maintain required DO-178B lifecycle artefacts and technical documentation for assigned modules.
Collaborate with systems, hardware, verification, and software teams to resolve interface and integration issues.
Contribute to continuous improvement of embedded software development, review, optimization, and configuration processes.
What Makes You a Great Fit
5+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in aerospace, avionics, defence, automotive, or other safety-critical environments.
Strong hands-on expertise in Ada 95/Ada 2012 and Embedded C.
Experience developing low-level drivers, hardware interfaces, and real-time embedded software.
Hands-on experience with MPC5777C Power Architecture and/or MC68332 processors.
Strong understanding of MIL-STD-1553B, RS-422, and RS-232 communication protocols.
Experience with processor configuration, memory interfaces, and inter-processor communication.
Strong understanding of RAM, NVRAM, DPRAM, RTRAM, and embedded memory handling.
Experience developing and optimizing real-time software with a focus on execution-time measurement and performance.
Familiarity with DO-178B Level A/Level C software development processes and lifecycle artefacts.
Strong understanding of requirements traceability, low-level design, coding standards, peer reviews, configuration management, and change control.
