We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to develop, maintain, and support production-ready electrical designs and engineering documentation for electronic products. The role combines hands-on expertise in schematic capture and PCB layout with strong capabilities in drawing control, component selection, BOM management, and engineering change processes.
The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in OrCAD, a solid understanding of electronic components and PCB design practices, and the ability to maintain accurate, buildable, and well-documented product designs. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure designs remain technically accurate and production-ready.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, revise, and maintain electrical schematics and PCB layouts using OrCAD.
Develop and maintain standardized electrical drawing templates, title blocks, formats, component libraries, and documentation standards.
Update electrical drawings and engineering documentation based on design changes, production feedback, and current product configurations.
Review and maintain electronic BOMs in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Identify and correct BOM discrepancies related to part numbers, quantities, descriptions, revisions, and other component information.
Research and evaluate alternate electronic components based on electrical specifications, form-fit-function requirements, availability, lifecycle, and cost.
Create and maintain approved alternate parts lists with appropriate technical documentation and justification.
Conduct design reviews and checks covering schematic integrity, PCB layout quality, manufacturability, testability, and documentation completeness.
Coordinate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to resolve component, BOM, drawing, and production-related issues.
Support engineering change processes and maintain accurate revision control across drawings, BOMs, and associated engineering records.
Maintain component libraries, design documentation, and related engineering data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Identify opportunities to improve electrical design documentation, component management, and engineering processes.
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT
7+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with substantial experience in schematic capture and PCB layout.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong hands-on proficiency with OrCAD schematic capture and PCB layout.
Experience creating and maintaining electrical drawing templates, component libraries, and engineering documentation.
Strong experience reviewing, updating, and controlling electrical drawings and design records.
Experience managing electronic BOMs and approved alternate component lists.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for BOM review and correction.
Strong understanding of electronic components, datasheets, component selection, lifecycle management, and form-fit-function equivalency.
Good understanding of PCB design, manufacturability, testability, and production requirements.
Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and revision-control practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve technical discrepancies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Operations teams.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple design, documentation, and engineering priorities.
